Hi Members,

I am sure some of you are just receiving your possible fuel leak recall notices at the moment, evoque and freelander 2 2013 and late models.
My question is, hasn't this engine been used for many years why is a problem showing up now, or were there modifications to the previous version.
I do remember seeing an earlier post regarding this problem, with pictures so maybe they have had to act on it.
I thought this engine was used in a lot of other vehicles, have not heard of any other recalls.
I am having mine checked in a few weeks, with A service ouch!!! I would be interested in other members thoughts,.up to 20k now love the car.

Cheers

Hi ByronB,

It is a Peugeot engine, same as used in the 4007. As we have one I checked with Peugeot when I first came across the Freelander 2 recall. They got back to me saying it is just a Land Rover problem, and that the Peugeot is just fine. I now park it away from the Land Rovers. Great engine but still haven't managed the claimed 6.0 Ltrs/100km. We are running just over 7 at present.

Cheers

When I received my recall letter yesterday, I asked myself the same question. Thought the engine was a well proven one!! Anyway I too will get it checked with my first service in a couple of months..only done 10 K in 8 mths

Cheers just make sure you do it within the 12 months, I was going to wait till November, but with 20k I will do it now, don't know how big a delay the recall will put on service bookings.

Cheers

Crikey !! Just as well we have 'free' service for 3 years via the corporate plan and a free loan car while being serviced at dealership.

Wish I did, I have car allowance
still have it covered, but hard work for a private owner.

I don't quite follow: is the FL2 using a Peugeot engine?

Yes it does, as the Under the bonnet section of the following review reveals:

Drive - Peugeot 4007 Review (http://news.drive.com.au/drive/new-car-reviews/peugeot-4007-20100305-14tcc.html)

I just had mine checked - no problems at all. The dealer told me that they had done 30 checks before me and none had the problem.

Hi Gents,

Had my car dealer serviced this week, great experience, checked car for recall all was good no issue, was also told about a software upgrade recall, not sure what that was about, but did that as well, car is going fantastic, I know dealer servicing is expensive, but at least you know that they are doing all that is required.

Cheers :)

G'day to all I am a newbee here and admit I am really interested in opinion about the Freelander 2. I am very keen on purchasing the diesel version but since I have been googling info I am hearing some bad stories. If there are any FL2 owners out there I would be vhappy to hear your experiences. I hear too that the service costs are very high. Any feedback much appreciated.
Thx
Mick

Mick,
I have had my car since February, I love it, I was also warned about LR, but took the plunge anyway. In relation to service, I believe it depends on how you use your car, I must admit I use my car everyday, as I am a sales manager. It is great around town the perfect size, I have done 21000klms so far, just had my first service. Yes it was $850, but my previous car was evry 10k and was always $500 so 1000 over the year so the LR is not expensive. Of course you can choose non dealer servicing, which I am sure would be cheaper.
The new model has a 26k service interval,of course you can go every 12k, the secret with LR is check your fluids regularly and should be ok.
Buy one enjoy, you only live once.

Cheers :)
