I have just bought an 8in great white light bar, I was going to put it on my truck but am wondering is there any point in running a light like this with a set of rallye 2000 spotties? I have the Hellas on my 130 and do a lot of country road driving, they are a good reliable light with good performance, but is adding a light bar a waste of time or will I notice a big improvement?

LED light bars don't have the long distance penetration of a good driving light, but they have excellent short to medium range and usually a good spread of light to the sides, so both types of lights compliment eachother. If you do a lot of country driving, running both makes sense because the LED will be good for spotting Roos etc and the benefits of good driving lights are obvious.

As per Murray's advice both typically complement each well - you need pretty epic LEDs to get good distance (see my set up below) and most driving lights cannot give the spread/flood of light provided by LEDs.
For context, I'm currently running two 18 LED Great White round driving lights (GW LEDs seem to be some of the most spot orientated on the market) and am about to fit a pair of 24 LED GW light bars to compliment these. A pair of HIDs would be a good alternate to the round GWs.
You'll love the light bar in the tight going!

One area that LEDs definitely outperform conventional lights is in the bush on tight tracks. They have a much wider spread of light where you want it.

It's much more important to know what's on teh sideof teh road where you'll be in a few seconds (grasshoppers) , as opposed to what's in the road where you'll be much later.

Cool, thanks for the info, its the roadsides that you need the light on..I'm currently hitting about 3-4 Roos a week and having 2-3near misses a day...bloody things are everywhere!
