Driving home from work the sarvo (5 min trip) i started getting this burning smell .i kept my eye on the temp gauge and it stayed normal. As soon as i got home i lifted the lid and found my top radiator hose was leaking coolant from the connection to the engine block ,my first thought was the clamp must've been loose and wasn't holding the hose tight enough on its port but then i noticed the bulge:eek:.
The bulge stuck out maybe 1- 2cm wider then the rest of the hose and seemed to be forcing the clip open letting the coolant drip out . I gave the engine a feel and it was :censored: hot .
could it just be a rooted hose or some kind of pressurising problem
I drained the system two days ago ( while i was changing manifold studs ) could my procedure have been wrong
i drained the system through bottom hose drain screw
flushed with normal water on a low pressure
i then put the drain plug back in and did a test with normal water to see how much it was going to take . i pulled the bleed screw out and filled up the expansion tank until i had a good stream flowing out of the bleed hole .
I then put the bleed screw back in and drained it all over again .
once it was all empty the drain plug went back in the bleed screw came out and i filled with a a 50/50 mix of OAT long life coolant (the red stuff) and demineralised water kept filling till i had a good stream out the bleed whole put the screw back in filled tank to max level and started her up . i kept it running till it reached normal running temp and that was it .
Today was the first time id driven it since i replaced the coolant and and the manifold studs so I'm thinking maybe I've stuffed something up.
Any suggestions ????
cheers
