Hi All,

We're getting very close to RWC for DaOot, yeah I've been saying that since June;) so we need to get insurance.

I rang our current provider & because of the age of the car, 44 born in 1969, what a great year, they won't insure us.

Got further with RACQ but they wouldn't insure until it's registered however I did get CTP cert through them.

We're only going for Fire, Theft & TPP not comprehensive at this stage & I was just wondering if anyone else has had trouble getting insurance.

I've not tried Shannons as I heard somewhere they wouldn't insure an under 25 driver which the boy child will be when he gets his license.

I have a 1980 series insured with AAMI I think it was $180ish for a year. Just Fire and theft. No problems getting it, they said that they would do comprehensive if I wanted to pay the extra $50-100/year.

The MRS drives it too she is 25. I'm pretty sure that AAMI didn't car who drove it, BUT if they claim then the excess goes up!

Hope that helps you.

O, and I'm in QLD if that makes any difference.

I insured my 2 a with Shannons the other day, I got an agreed value at a great price. Mine is not a daily driver though and will only be used occasionally, when it decides it would like to go for a drive again ....
