Hi Guys
The weather here has put a stop to going fishing this weekend. We have had 3 weeks of strong cold fronts, another is hitting us now and another due sunday.Shame I have an extended long weekend too,off today, tommorow and monday:(:(:(:(:(:( There has been up to 8m swells in Albany in the last couple of days,it will take a week of calm weather to iron the bumps out:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I was going to fit the sounder today then look at doing some fishing for the rest of the weekend :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Anyhow, change of plans.Taking the boat up to the city tommorow for a full service on the engine, plus whilst its up there Im going to get the canvas on the bimini top re-done.When I get it back I will fit the sounder.

Got a couple of fishing rod repairs to do(damaged tips, rough handling by deckies????:mad::mad::mad::mad:) then bring on summer:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Cool stuff Andrew,, literally
Bad luck about the timing of the weather, but as your doing, a good chance to catch up on maint issues, so that she's in good condition when your "out" there.

As an aside, how do you go about fixing your rod tips. Unfortunately, when I went out last time, I had the rods in the cab,,, and the dog
The really stupid thing about my scenario, its a two piece rod,,,,

Looking forward to hopefully getting a bit more time to get out there this summer, both with the boat, and just off the rocks and beach. (Next time, I'll try to remember to separate rods prior to letting dog in the car ;))

If its the tip only its easy.
Go to BCF,they sell a range of tip sizes. They are held on with hot glue.Simply heat the old one with a ciggy lighter then melt the new glue with ciggy lighter then fit the tip.
See the Fuji display in BCF,the tips and glue are all there.

Got a call from the boat shop today.
Service done.I asked them to kit the fuel pump as in the past I have had issues with the boat conking out,I replaced all the fuel lines and filter system and it went away.
They say the carbs had water in them so I had them pull them apart and kit them out too.
They now only need to replace the canvas top and she is ALMOST ready for Xmas.
Just need to fit the HDS9 gear, lookout fishies in Albany accomadation has been booked:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::c ool::cool::cool::cool:

I bought a fuel flow sensor kit for my Lowrance gear today. It allows me to use the fuel management data on the HDS9,much more reliable than the fuel gauge that only takes 30 litres to fill when the gauge says half empty,100lt tank.
Hoping to do some installation work this weekend.

A bit more progress,the electricity was introduced today,all good,no burning smell:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
The only issue, the dash fuel gauge now reads 3/4 full for some reason, the tank is empty at the moment. The sounder is wired into independant power, not the boats factory wiring.
A few pics in demo mode.

Going through a similar refit of my boat at the moment Andy and trying to convince the minister of war, finance and recreation that I need a HDS-9.

Currently, I'm doing a full rewire, as the previous owner should be banned from touching wire and crimp connectors for the remainder of his life -

So far, we have the drum winch installed (that was fun), LED deck lighting is partially installed (starboard side to go), new stereo system fitted, rocket launchers on.

I'm wiring up a new switch block, I've run new cabling throughout and replaced all the Nav lights with LED versions.

Ordered and awaiting delivery of all the new fuel lines, priming bulbs etc.

Also got myself a shiny new Deck Wash Kit which will be making its way into the boat tonight... Should be handy...

I've done some glass work too, repairing years of chipping etc that a Glass boat suffers - It'll do for now, as the plan is to fully refurb this boat in the next few years...

At the moment it looks pretty messy onboard - but will be on the water in the next couple of weeks

Yep, x2 even.
Sorry to hear you've had dramas Andy.

I've been doing some work on my old girl. Was hoping I'd get to have a few runs in her this summer. I've been advised though, that because she's been sitting idle for just over 4 years, I should get a new water pump fitted. On a motor that's God only knows how old, maybe I should just get another motor :(
Will do some sums and see.
