Yeah agree about the screen size i was just worried that it may be too big but i'm sure i can live with it.
Otterbox is a good idea , never used one so can you use the phone while its inside ?

what he said

just over 12 months and i live off it. add google calinder. Kies via wifi is great. i even have a G meter for tuning 200 & 300 TDIs. lastly is ES file explorer so i can watch or pull off movies and files from my XP network including RAVE. GPS read out is better than my tom tom but only use it with a map ( a real one like on paper) size is great and i dont have to look for my specks all the time. (incisor) the real reson :p

Just got an otterbox defender for my S4.
Yes it makes it bigger.
Yes it protects the (expensive) phone very well.
Yes I can still fit it in my work trousers pocket - but not my jeans so I'll have to get the missus to carry it in her handbag for me..... :lol2:

I have one in an Otterbox Defender.

I love it.
Only thing I would like is better reception.

I waited for the 4g version. However where I live still doesn't have 4g. Fingers crossed for December :D

I was tossing up either this or the Note 2. At the time I thought the S3 was huge and the Note 2 just crazy.
However the first thing I did was put the S3 in an Otterbox Defender which makes it the same hight/width as a Note 2.

Makes a 3.5 or 4in screen look useless.

I use it for everything.

The Otterbox case offers excellent drop protection but mine is not 12 months old and is pretty much stuffed. The build quality isn't very good.

i have the armour, it is water proof.

only minus is the call volume is lower but i need it because i am an idiot and drop my phone too often.

Very happy, beats all the previous nokia and HTE etc phones I've had in the past hands down, yes it is big but as Dave says the pluses far, far outweigh the minuses.

Yes but they are HK spec phones, ie not the same as we get here.
And i didnt want/ couldnt afford to buy 2 handsets outright, plus i get a better deal thru my isp with free car kit/ cradle and case along with 4 months free handset payments (saving $60) each :).

From what I have seen the SIII seem to suffer from built in obsolescence, usually a week after the plan expires;)

Without looking it up it some markets get different processors and amounts of memory.

I don't know why though.

Need to check the frequencies too.

Also, no warranty given on grey imports.

Not grey imports from Kogan but parallel imports, my brother got an S4 from them and he cant complain but specs are a little different as Utemad said CPU's and ram/ storage do differ.

That’s what the original purchaser specs for the phone, it is not a country thing, IE Optus is buying 10 000 phones they want to cut the best deal. they all come from the same factories.

Besides there is no Samsung licensing as such to sell there phones, anyone can buy direct, just if you have the volume to be able to do so.

I have 2 of them, my own one has a recurring problem with the media controller, every now and then it decides to stay on andit will chew out the batterty in about four hours, the screen gets warm whn this happens, but if I manually stop the media in the application manager, it wll stop it, it doesnt happen all the time.
The other one is great, never had a problem with it.

As 85 County said - they are a DIY job if you are up to it. Have a look at the YouTube clips and see if you are up for it. I've done screens on Samsungs, IPhones, HTC's and an Ipad. The Ipad probably isn't for beginners, but the phones aren't too bad.

What I really need is a family that doesn't break there stuff so regularly...:D

S3's & 4's are good. A thousand times better than any iPhone and most Androids...

If you're still in the market... The Google Nexus' are the best though. ;) Also quite cheap in comparison. No breaks after a few drops, only a couple of dents on the casing. Screen is still 100%...

Under no circumstances buy an HTC. Mine cost me an extra $450 off the list price due to "unwarranted" issues which were not user faults. I will never purchase another, and will never speak a good word about HTC. I hope they go bust.

Yeah but talking into a dinner plate is plain weird , way too big for a phone.

davidsonsm

It's retro. Like the early Motorola! To be honest the note 2 gets used 99% of the time for non-phone functions. If I was the least bit bothered about talking into a "side" plate, I'd use an earpiece thingy. But reckon they're even more wanky.
