Assumption loses to Investigation..again!

Started getting the "suspension error - normal height only" warning on every trip after it happened intermittently a few times. Checked the Faultmate. Resevoir filling slowly. Checked the interwebs - Likely to be the compressor (original) on the way out or the desiccant breaking down. I went the soft option and purchased a replacement dryer first. Ordered the parts before working on the D3 as they come by mail and take a week.

I spent the morning wondering how many parts are attached to the vehicle before the body goes on, so that now they are impossible to service easily! finally get it apart.

Refit and partially assembled for a test....pfft. Air leak, the real problem. A line from the dryer has rubbed through on another line. Oh well at least I have a new dryer.

Note to self....do not make assumptions...

Did you just try and remove the dryer or the compressor as a complete assembly?

It's much easier to remove the complete compressor with the dryer attached.
Then replace the dryer on a bench.

Yes Rich, I did drop the entire unit off. It is just that as a hobbyist, most times I do a job its the first time I have done it and consequently it takes 3 times longer. Getting to the top bolt on the bracket was bit of a pain. I also had to drop off a bash plate and rock sliders.
