Headlight switch

Traxide dual relay HL and DL kit fitted to 90w/110w lights.

I lost my headlights last night. I suspect its the switch so before i buy a replacement switch i wanted to confirm with others that experienced the same problem that you also lost the dash lights and the high beam select (as opposed to the flash function). I was distracted today and didn't check fuses but I sort of eliminated that problem because the high beam flash function worked and the DL engaged when the flash function was engaged.

interested in other peoples experience on the dash lights as a symptom of the switch giving up the ghost.

I would think its the switch inview of the fact that the lights are not relayed. This is a known common fault and there are many posts on the subject :D

To clarify my headlights are relayed with the Traxide kit.

The traxide relay would most probably prevent your switch melting, but the symptoms point to that being the problem. Pull it out and see if it's melted/test it's function with a multimeter.

Hi MLD , as been mentioned there are quite a few posts on light switches , what you can do is if you check the Blue wire going into the switch with the lights on and it is live then it is the switch .you can play with the lights to get them going , what you will find is the plastic at the point of contact has melted and stops contact . If you buy a new switch get one from the uk. even with postage they are less then 1/2 the price here . the best way to stop it happening again is to go through Relays , hope this helps .jimr1...
