This was a much simpler job than I expected to do on the 2001 TD4 Freebie.
The replacement in-tank pump was 185GBP from island-4x4.co.uk and arrived here in about a week.
Land Rover reckon you need special tool LRT-19-009 to remove and re-fit the locking ring, but I found a wide-blade screwdriver and a bit of elbow grease sufficed just fine.
It is a bit of a messy job though, as spilling fuel is pretty much unavoidable, so make sure you have plenty of rags and good ventilation.
I did a write-up of the procedure with a few photos at In-Tank Fuel Pump Replacement | PaulP38A.com (http://paulp38a.com/2001-freelander-td4/in-tank-fuel-pump-replacement/)
Cheers, Paul.
