Last Friday one of the young office girls not long here from china was having trouble starting her 18 month old Corolla, one of the other girls went out and was checking her oil/ fluids etc then a couple of young blokes went out and started hooking up jumper leads :o.
Someone then came in asking if any one knew any thing about cars which is usually aimed at me so i say being its a fairly new car i bet its out of fuel , so i go out and when turning the key the engine turned over quite happily and no sign of a flat battery.
Fuel light was on and then the girl says it came on while driving to work some 15klms or so, some one took her to the servo so she could buy a pretty red plastic jerry (no not the cheap metal can) and 5ltrs of fuel.
After about a minute of slow chugging it finally came to life which shows that she must have drove a lot more than 15klms, worse part was she was going to attemp to drive home and not straight to the servo 400m away :o.

Mine to,every time i get in her car the frigggin thing is out of fuel.

In fact twice she backed out of the driveway and it ran out just as she was putting it back in drive.Stuck half way across our street.

Then rings me because she is too embarresed to ring the RACQ.

She hasn't done it for a while thankfully so maybe they grow out of it.:)

Now backing into things, well we won't go there.....:(

Ahh,got reversing sensors now, so that is sorted at last...:)

This reminds me of when a woman at work asked me what she should do about the red light on the dash. I asked her if it had a symbol or picture associated with, thinking to identify it as an alternator/battery/belt issue or an oil pressure issue. She confirmed it had "oil" written on the lense and asked me how much oil she should put in. I suggested if there was no oil leaking out the bottom that maybe as much as 1/2 litre would be needed but check after putting half that in.
The next day she came to work again and said that 1/2 litre hadn't made any difference and the oil light was still on. She has about 50km each way commute! I told her she absolutely should not drive it until she got it sorted. She came in later that afternoon and asked me whether it is a serious problem if there was 1/2 litre of oil in the coolant system:eek:. Yep - the 1/2 litre of oil she'd added had been put into the radiator overflow bottle!:D Another 1/2 litre of oil, this time in the engine, made the oil light go out:cool:.
Buyer beware at auctions - it went into the auctions a week later!
