Just wondering how I'd go about flashing the ship in my Tdi to make it go faster !
I wanna be a boy racer !
:D :lol2:
No, even I am not that stupid. Slow day !

Wow, even I don't get bored enough at work to start such a thread!
BTW, I mouse over threads from the list which gives me a popup text of the first post so I wasn't fooled. Just bored enough to reply. :D

Well , you take your DIY Arduino flasher and connect it to the .......

Hazard light switch? That should at least satisfy the flash part of the request.

The only time you can get flash chips in a 300TDi is when you pay extra for the chunky fries at the Hungry Jacks drive through. :D
Wouldn't make it go any faster though.

I think a BOV is good value too. Then it can "Pshhhhhh" when you change gears.
Anyway, I think putting a chip in the engine makes them go well.

Method:
Take one cold chisel and lump hammer
Knock one chip off the ol' block
Measure the weight of chip to the nearest gramme
Set camera to "flash" and pixellate said chip
Test drive with butt dyno engaged (Note, vacuum the footwell of last week's crumbs first or the results will be inaccurate)
Post up the results.

You lot do know that some markets did get EFI 300tdi's?

If you are going to chip it make sure you fit a Knuetson valve or you may blow the whole thing. I have found the twin overhead Knuetson's work best.
As an extra I have also found that by adjusting(re-shimming) the piston return springs you can maximise the performance gains. Don't worry about stripping the engine to get to the springs, even though most mechanics will tell you that you need to at least take the head off. It is far easier and quicker to just drill a 26mm hole into each cylinder through the bock, this will also facilitate easier access for any future work.

Dont go spoiling the fun now.
Change back to 200tdi and you're all good.
I get the best flashing results from arc welders. More power than a mig so less chance of having to do it twice.

As said unless you have a 300 TDI with ECU which I do to believe were sold here in Aus
Then you have to go old school.
Silicon hoses , larger intercooler and play with the turbo.
Will go a far bit faster then.

Yup! bigger intercooler(more cool air),silicon hoses (wont suck in),get MR to breath on the injector pump, extractors and big bore exhaust, drop the centre muffler and a free flow rear muffler (gets the gases away quickly) :D
I'm saving for the exhaust system I also run a "Donaldson" air cleaner instead of the paper thingo.

'Flashing a ship' might also get you into trouble with the passengers....:D
...unless of course you are on the 'lurve boat'...:)

14" rims and low profile tyres.... that'll make it feel like its been chipped... Up to 75kph, where it'll be flat out in top! :D. Jokes aside, the 200 and 300 Tdi were a mechanical injected engine using a rotary fuel pump. These have a 'fuel screw' that can be played with to make it go better... but, go too far and it'll boogy, but not for long. As said before, a larger intercooler, a decent exhaust to allow all those gasses to exit unrestricted, and then get the fuel pump wound out to suit the new additions. If your engine has not been played with, when you look at the fuel pump, you'll find a 13mm nut with a threaded stud up the middle which takes a flat screw driver. This will either have a plastic 'anti tamper' cap on it, a pressed steel 'shroud' (also anti tamper) with a dab of yellow paint on it, or possibly a small piece of wire with a little lead stamp stuck to it. If you want to play, back the lock nut off having removed the anti tamper fittings, and turn the center stud in half a turn and lock the nut. You will know you have gone the right way as the engine idle will increase. This is done at your choice... and not recommended..;) Pic shows a Bosch VE pump on a Peugeot.. (similar to yours). Arrow points to the Fuel Screw!

And you'd be exhausted if you had to flash every passenger and crew member, individually and personally, in alphabetical order, on one of the big cruise ships that get around these days. :D

I think a few people may have missed the sarcasm inherent in this thread.....
Oh well.
Seems we've been thinking of the wrong chips I think these are the ones needed....
