Hi everyone

After a bit of advice about the defenders, I am looking at getting one around about Christmas time, I currently drive an 80series cruiser but have always liked the defenders.
I have a 6ft tall, highly disabled son that lives with me, he is able bodied so he can get in and out ok but I am after how much room is in the back of the vehicles, i.e. will he have enough room to stretch out or only enough to sit there.
I have owned 2 discoveries before 1 I still have, would the room be comparable to that or less in the defender?
The next question is about the aircon in them, as with my son he can not control his temp all that great, I have heard that the early ones it cooled your knees and that was it are the later ones the same or are they a bit better?
Can they be sealed from the dust or is as much inside as what is out?
Goingbush has the vehicle that I am looking for but the funds are not there at the moment.

Living in Katherine it is a bit limited to get to see these vehicles so any info that you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It will be a bit of a culture shock coming from an 80 series, what year range are you looking for? That will allow us to answer your questions better.

Funny, my mums side of the family are Grimm's.

Cheers

Sorry about that I had been meaning to put that in when i first posted it but totally forgot, even when I proof read it I still did not think of it.

The vehicle that I am looking at are the 130 dual cab ute and the 110 wagon from about 2005 onwards.

If your after space for your son, then your better off with the 110, dual cabs really aren't designed for the average adult to sit comfortably in the back of them. Not just the 130, but nearly all dual cabs. Especially if you plan on doing any distance at all.
Good luck.

Hi Grimmy

Best way to determine if a Land Rover 110 or 130 suits your family you should look one over or try it for size.

If you're down there in Katherine (NT?) there's a fella in town with two 130's, who would probably let you have a look over them. Won't write his name on this public forum but you may have already seen him or his wife driving them around town. Really nice couple. PM and I can probably dig up a phone number.

I'm local too, but am overseas at the moment and Hector's a truck cab

PM me if you want that contact

Good luck

Alan
