View Full Version : Can someone check their MY12 Defender tonight? Dealer concerns...

I am reviewing the work conducted by a dealer and would like to check on what the area on the bottom of the dash in front of the gear levers looks like before they fixed the air conditioning thermostat.

I have included some photos for reference of what mine looks like but can't remember what it looked like before! Apart from the obvious scratches and attempts at uninstall/install it just doesn't look right. It also appears a corner has been cracked off the trim.

Any help is appreciated before I continue my dealer correspondence tomorrow.

G day Glen?

Ok wen't out to my MY11 Defender, I guess there very similar, looking at your photos, as best I can tell ( dark & pooring rain over here ) it all looks much the same. You definitely have a break on the L/H side (my one has an A/C line just about there ) & they have butchered your lower trims but it all looks to be the same to mine. Like I said, not the best conditions to be comparing. Hope this helped. Regards Chris.

Thanks Chris for the reply!

Its funny how you don't take notice of things until you are actually looking. Raining and dark here too so thanks for going out in the cold for me!

Cheers Glenn

I have never really noticed this area until now and it does look a bit rough. However it looks like they may have broken a bit of the plastic. This is a MY11 130.

Thanks Jason. Confirmed my thoughts exactly! I am so mad right now as this is the product of professionals. I could do a better job myself. I am hesitant to look further to be honest. Is this how they would treat a range rover?

Also anyone know how long it takes to replace the A/C thermostat?:censored:

Not good stuff here .............after a heater box repair by the dealer that my 14 year old niece could do better..........maybe its better to photograph things before the repair.

Talking to the customer service guy at the dealers before the work I kinda felt because its a defender things are meant to be rough and ready.
