These are advertised as 'snap arounds' but I can't seem to find them anywhere. I want to use them to attach the roof tent to the roof rack so that I can remove it fairly easily. Does anybody have any idea of what these are called or suggestions please?

Wow, my first unhelpful response in a year on the forum :(
I already knew that's what they were, hence why I said they were advertised as snap arounds - I was hoping for a more generic brand, another name or similar things that do the same thing as there don't seem to be many places selling the Yakima online in Australia.
As your link shows - they are all overseas. And I would have thought other companies than just Yakima makes them

Obviously some people seem to take pleasure in trying to belittle others. Not cool.

I guess if its a fairly new product it might only be Yakima that does it, because they have the design protected and no one has worked out a way to copy yet without infringing.

If that's what you were hoping for, then that is what you should have said in your first post!
What you did say was:
I can't seem to find them anywhere. ..... Does anybody have any idea of what these are called or suggestions please?
And the response given provided that information for you. I would say it was actually helpful to the question you posed. If you can't phrase the question to give the type of answer you were hoping for, you can't get offended at someone for answering the question you DID pose! Perhaps you didn't like the way they did it, but it did answer your question.

I said I'd found them advertised and provided a picture from the website and I was provided a brand name rather than a generic name which I asked for.
I'm not offended - just pointed out that it wasn't a helpful answer. I then clarified it further.

It actually didn't - it provided a generic list of sites from the US that sells them, rather than Australia, so re-enforced my original point that I couldn't find anywhere selling them.
And yes providing a sarcastic link to let me google that for you is a bit childish - without the brand name you get a very different set of results.

So providing the list of outlets that sell them... proves that no-one sells them?
These days, buying online from the States is no big deal, and is often quicker and cheaper than ordering from an Australian distibutor. Did you actually look at any of the seller's sites before dismissing them as unhelpful?

given that that's the original question
I think the answers provided by the first answer are appropriate.
I see no information provided by you in the question that indicates you are already aware of the brand name or that you want just Australian suppliers
Just that you werent able to find them or what they are called

As an alternative you could try these, STAUFF:*Pipe, Tube and Hose Clamps (http://www.au.stauff.com/index.php?id=1956)
Not quite what you were asking about, but would be heaps stronger in my opinion, but probably dearer as well. Originally designed for securing hydraulic piping to machinery. Available in Aus as well.:)
Cheers, Mick.

Ok guys give him a bloody break!!! while he may not of worded his post correctly...
I think he has the gist and dosnt need everyone coming on pointing that out and then giving him an answer...I'm sure he has the message..
and quite frankly the way the first answer was given whether it gave a result to the original poster due to the way he posed his question or not
Was not necessary!!!!
That is not what this forum is about and it does not promote interaction from other users who also maybe wanting to ask question.
If it bugs you that people don't do a google search before asking..then dont post in the thread and move on. If you can be helpful without belittling someone then please feel free to ad your information.

Yes, as I already knew about those ones and was really hoping for other suggestions of how to do it/if there was another name for snap arounds.
Hiding a link to let me google that for you is just childish, that was what irritated me. I buy most stuff online but wanted to actually go into a shop and check them before I brought them.

You're right, but obsfucating a link to Let Me Google That For You is childish.
I then went on to offer further clarification

Sorry it came across as me being a smart alec but I was not aware that you already knew the brand name and was just looking for a local supplier.
The Let me google link was just a way of showing you where they were available and I did not mean to offend you with this method.
Just show's how easy it is to see things the wrong way on forums sometimes but i think if you look through some of my previous post you will see thats not my style to go out of my way to be unhelpful :)

Jake,
As Mick has suggested above, have a look at Stauff Clamps. Best way to see the range that they have available is to just type Stauff Clamps into Google and then just click on the "images" option that comes up. They make all sorts of clamps, and would definitely have one that will sort your needs.
There's plenty of places in Perth that sell them - we use them at work all the time.

Mark, not offended in the slightest - I usually only post in the D2 section and have already done extensive research/searches before I post (and start my posts saying so!), just forgot to say that this time
I just got unnecessarily grumpy at the LMGTFY link. Probably cos I use it extensively myself and disappointed with myself for getting called on it :)

Thanks BM - Stuaff don't seem to have any distributors near Osbourne Park, is it just a hydraulic-type-shop that would sell them (google seems to bring up beta hose clamps as an alternative), or a plumbers merchant or somewhere else?

Jake - you an usually get them through ENZED or PIRTEK or any of the hose doctor companies. I recently had a complete crushing plant re-hosed by Hosemasters, and they installed Stauff clamps throughout.
Nearest place that I can find to you is probably Mining & Hydraulic Supplies in Malaga.
