am i right in saying my 1955 86" 2 litre landy has a solex 32PBI-2 carby fitted?

jut want to make sure its right before i buy a carby rebuild kit. i can get a failry comprehensive one for about $130 or am i better off getting someoen to rebuild it

Yes you are correct. Our quote for the rebuild was around $300.00. We bought a kit off E-bay, actually 2, for around $40.00 from Italy and did it ourselves, arrived in about a week. Carby seems fine now:)

do you remember the name of the place you bought them from?

also do you know anyone local to me (northern nsw, lismore) whos brain i can pick and a car similar to mine i can look at? been a while since my car has been together and i dont quite remember how things were :confused:

Thats the carb it should have and it should have it stamped on the side.
However a lot have been fitted with Holden carbs. If it does not have 32PBI stamped on it post a photo and someone will identify it.

Don't know anyone local to you. If you come to Glenreagh on the weekend there probably will be some carbys there, mines not going this year.

does this seem a little overboard? looks to have a little more in it but almost 3 times more

It does seem to have most things, but I agree the price seems a bit steep.

One of the things to check on yours, is if the throttle spindle bushes are worn; if so, that needs seeing to first in the rebuild. If the throttle spindle has no wear then you probably don't need this kit, unless cheaper ones don't have other important parts such as the diaphragms.

You may also need an emulsion tube and appropriate jets, but that can only be determined by driving the machine and seeing how it performs,
