Gary (the seller) has, or had a D2 and has always been spot on in my dealings with him, so I can't imagine or believe he would sell anything substandard. My diff guard is a larger design that covers fully from front to rear, so I can't comment on this design, although I've seen similar on many vehicles. Good luck.

I used to have one on the front diff of my D1.
Seemed to work OK, protected the front of the diff pan from a few knocks.
I swapped it for a more wrap-around style (have a look at QT type guards) in the end with much bigger drain holes as I found this style tended to fill up with mud!

I've got one on the front of the Defender. It's taken a beating and stayed on, except once when it hit a rock at an angle that pried it off. No damage, and I think I should have tightened it a little more, hasn't done it since despite some knocks.
