Hi there guys I dropped off AULRO for a while, but still got the D3 and still loving it at 195,000km, even decided to keep it another year.

But thought it is time to be able to plug the phone into the stereo.

I have an '06 SE with the single stack CD, CD-400. There is an AUX button but no port to plug into. Is it easy to put one in and if so is there already a thread on here (I have been searching for days) that would show what parts and how to do it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

My SE is a bit later but the aux socket is in the rear of the centre console looking from the back seats. It's next to the 12v socket. Hopefully they are the same.

There is a thread on the disco3.uk site on how to install a lead.

It seems that some SE models came out with the plug installed and some didn't. mine didn't but have installed a lead following the instructions from the thread on the UK site.

Cheers Ean

Hi Jtonline
I had exactly the same problem - AUX on Radio but no Socket so I have done this mod but could not be bothered with tracing wires down into the left foot well or into the back of the centre console. Going through all the threads on the various sites there are various versions of the wire colors depending on the year of manufacture of your Landy. Also it made no sense having an AUX plug in the back of the vehicle and I hate :censored: loose wires floating around.
I decided that I wanted my AUX plug on my front dash near the radio so that I could run the music on my phone through the radio.
Basic steps were:
RADIO SIDE
· Remove radio and unplug rear connector. Cut Aux wires and solder your new AUX cable onto wires going into the Radio plug. If I did it again I would use a smaller wire than I did – much easier.
AUX PLUG SIDE ON TOP SECTION OF DASH
· Remove top section of Dash and pop off the back cover. If you look on the left side from the rear you will see that there are no electronics of other wires to worry about in this section. This is where I mounted my AUX plug
· Cut away the small plastic ribs from the rear left side to make space for your new 3mm AUX Plug.
· Drill hole on bottom of Dash piece to get AUX cable in to your new plug
· Drill hole (from front) on of top piece of dash to suit your size AUX plug
· Solder wires to your AUX plug & Mount on Dash piece
· Cut away plastic on the bottom of the dash piece to make space for your cable to run when you remount the top dash piece. This is where using a smaller cable size will be easier.
· Remount and Bobs your Aunty – you have an AUX plug on your dash.

I did the same cutting in to the wires behind the head unit but instead of adding a socket to the dash I ran the 3.5mm male plug down to the centre console tray between the 12V sockets (in front of gear change).

I then bought off Ebay a small Belkin 12V socket Ipod charger & amp that plugs directly into the bottom of the Ipod / Iphone - it is not preferable to take the feed from the earphone jack I am told.

The AUX male end plugs into this Belkin unit and the sound quality is fantastic through the stock stereo using the pre-amp feed. It is all neat and tidy and very discreet as that tray is the perfect place to put a phone.

Additionally, one of the wires (white I think) is a phone call cut-out if you install a Bluetooth hands-free phone. It works a treat and puts CALL on the screen when you receive a phone call.
