hello people,

I am almost ready to stick a 2.8 tgv diesel into my 4.6 hse, the kit is a couple of weeks away, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to change the gearbox ecu for a different one, I was wondering if I could just get a diesel gearbox ecu from the UK and have an oiler friendly gear change just like that?

pretty sure it won't be that easy but thought I would ask anyway

thanks all

It might be worth contacting Ashcroft to see whether they can supply a "piggyback" ECU to accommodate the diesel engine with your current gearboxd. Is is a HP22 or HP24? Am watching with much interest;)

Ashcroft can supply a stand alone gearbox control that has the option for changing whatever you want, but that costs 795 pounds plus shipping and a diesel ecu on English ebay is 60, so looking into the cheap option first.

I have the standard 4.6 gearbox, HP24 I think, all the P38 auto boxes have the same gear ratios and I believe the diesel and 4.0 are actually the same box, I'm sure the ecu won't be interchangeable, that would just make it to easy, but I have to ask just in case!

Any ideas, comments or suggestions, even theories gratefully received.
