Hi All,

I have a few questions about seats / seat bases / seat brackets and rails...

I am restoring a Series II - which came with the (I believe) the optional seat adjuster rails. They look like this:

My first question is - can I install these on the passenger side (these came off the drivers side) ?

As my car was in bits (and my other Series didn't have any seat adjusters) I have worked out that the seat base sits in this:

And that this bracket bolts to the seat adjuster.

The good news is that the seat bases sit very firmly in this bracket/base. which is fantastic because on my other Series II - the seat bases simply sit on top of the seat box and move around a bit..

My second question is - when you install this rail adjustment (combined with the seat base bracket) - I believe that means that you do NOT install the traditional rails:
http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p549/tomb1971/Roger%20-%201960%20Land%20Rover/IMG_1779_zps648a868a.jpg

Is that correct?

So my plan is:
Drivers Side - seat adjuster, base bracket with seat base sitting in it.
Passenger Side - seat adjuster, base bracket with seat base sitting in it.
And leave the traditional rails off.
And leave the middle seat out.

Am I on the right track?

I have a workshop manual and unfortunately the seat adjusters aren't in it. I also have the CD from here and I couldn't find them in there either!

Last question - I don't suppose that anybody has any spare seat adjustment rails for sale? :wasntme:

I think you have it about right. Adjusters can be used in either outboard seat position.

Note that the seat back should be supported by buffers on brackets on the top of the bulkhead - if you rely on the bracket on the seat base, it will not last long.

I realise this is an old thread bit I though maybe appropriate to revive as I'm considering the same mod. One thing that troubles me is battery access. I would like to keep the battery located in the box under the passenger seat but inspecting the drivers side I think the fact the adjuster is bolted in place would impede removal of the hatch. Has anyone seen the adjuster fitted to passenger side with battery box access still possible?

I don't have a battery box under the seat, but the panel under the adjustable driver's seat on my 2a can be removed with the seat frame in position, so I doubt there would be a problem with it. (Same as my 110 has battery under the LH seat, tools under the RH seat) Some measurements should make it clear.
