The title says it all.

I can not even claim any heroics or acts of daring. I stubbed my tow on a chair and it now points out at a 45 degree angle.:(

The title says you broke your tow. I think you mean you broke your toe.

Hope it mends soon and at a more appropriate angle.

Ian.

Just tape it too it's neighbour .... "she'll be right mate". I've broken my little toe a couple of times in a similar fashion.

I did it before when I was a teenager - I'm sure it hurts more the older you get.

If you can stand it, tape it as suggested, & plenty of ice. ...........not for the toe, for the Bundy Rum. Bob [ ok, a bit for the toe]

Sounds more like a dislocation to me.
Don't ignore it, get it straightened.
On of mine rolled their big toe under, the other week.
Seemed to be just stretched ligaments. Got worse after a couple of days despite RICE.
X-rays showed 2 small chips on the joint and a very near miss with surgical correction!

I was afraid someone would say that. Taping it up was painful enough, letting someone else pull on it .....

I guess it is just as well I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow for my weekly hay fever shot. :(

Sounds like a dislocation to me also. You need to identify if the bend is at a joint or mid shaft of the bone.

Putting in back in place will be the best form of pain relief. You need to put it bac as soon a s possible, head to the ED and get them to do it.

If you can't get to the ED, then you need to put some traction (pull on it) on it and try to rotate it back into place. Without seeing it can not offer any more advice (too much all ready)

The treatment once in place, either fracture or dislocation is the same, strapping it to its buddy as has been said.

Yeah Mate. I broke mine in '85.

I can sympathise. I dislocated the two smallest toes, and broke the fourth metatarsal in my left foot about 9 years ago. The advice I got from the ED was to wear a stout shoe on it constantly until healed. Hurt like hell for 10 weeks.

Since then I've not been able to go barefoot at all.

"Since then I've not been able to go barefoot at all."
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'd just self-amputate if that was the option ;)

It's not so bad. I ended up buying myself steel toe capped shoes and boots to suit all occasions after my niece kept standing on my foot!

Maybe I should change my name to non-barefoot Dave?

Yep, I know what it's like! I stubbed my toe in '85 & I also don't like footwear!

Thanks for the tip.

Just back from ED. It was a broken in a way that made it stick out. They took one look and said "we need to straighten that".

I asked for nitrox gas, they gave me a local injection and then gave it a couple of good tugs and tapped it up. Feels much better.

Glad to hear things are better.
3-4 years ago I dislocated my little toe out sideways.
Came inside and said to my lady "You need to straighten this now while it is numb!"
Slip, click aaaaaaaaaaah, better.

Glad to see it's sorted. Hope the discomfort is not too great.
