Hi everyone.
About two months ago I put in a new brake servo in my 300tdi 130 as the older one had died.
I installed the new one myself (as it is pretty easy) and it was working great. However about a week ago I lost brake assist. When I push down the brake pedal and turn on the car, there is no movement in the pedal. It also goes hard after one use while driving.

My question is - how likely is it that the servo died after two months? Is this common or would there be factors contributing to it.
I have yet to locate a leak in it, but I haven't pull it out.
The vacuum pump still appears operational (still sucks onto my finger).

Also how likely am I to be able to get a replacement from the group I bought it from considering I self installed?

Thanks for your input.

You don't actually know how long the booster was sitting on the shelf before you fitted it, so the diaphragm may have been perished before you got it. It could also have been a manufacturing fault in the same part which has now revealed itself.

Firstly I would check that everything is tight wiithout any sucking leaks when the engine is running. (A stethoscope probe can be useful localising noises amongst the noise of the engine) Check the vacuum hose and all the way around the booster chamber.

Thanks I will check it out.
Very frustrating going form great braking to heavy reliance on down shifting.
