Otherwise known as "I have a year visa to explore Australia."

Im Gus, I have been on the forum here for a bit, and arrived Oct 3. As some know, I am the one who bought Newhue's 107. This is a space I will try and keep updated as I travel around, in addition to my blog. South by 107 (http://southby107.blogspot.com) (If this is not the right section, mods feel free to move)

I have met many awesome people at the Glengeigh long weekend event, and am excited to meet many more along the way.

Right now I am in Brisbane, staying with the Ho Har's while I get a canopy and a few other things for the 107 organized. So far I have planned to visit Frasier Island with some of the Gold Cost club members, then spend another week or so around Brisbane. After that, heading south, no particular schedule yet.

Thanks Pedro!

Yep, you have to watch The Castle. Funny movie.

You should also watch :

The Man from Snowy River for a bit of horsey adventure.
Gallipoli - one of the best war movies ever made, in my opinion. I'm from England and they made us watch this when we were kids at school in history class, it's that good.
Chopper - a movie based on the life of a famous Aussie standover man called Mark Brandon 'Chopper" Read who died last Friday.
Rabbit Proof Fence
Crocodile Dundee
Mad Max
Muriel's Wedding
Two Hands (Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne very early in their careers)
Gettin' Square (Sam Worthington and David Wenham. Wenham is hilarious)

And, if you are heading to Sydney, give me a PM and we'll meet up.

Bobby

As a quick update, the driver front spring decided not to spring any longer, and has gone flat. Should be getting fixed tuesday, so in the meantime it is overdrive reseal/install time.

Waved to Gus (we met at Glenreagh) heading north on the Bruce at the Sunshine Coast sunday 27/10, I had just driven a disco 1 tdi auto back from Sydney (great drive).
The blue canopy looked good on the 107.
I did not have a working uhf radio so gave and received a friendly wave, good luck

Hi all, have updated the blog again after a bit of a delay. My grandfather passed in the first part of December, so went home for a few weeks to see family and friends. I am back now, and continuing where I left off. In Newcastle area through the end of the month, then heading Canberra way in a meandering direction.

Bumped into Gus last night after he had done some repairs to his generator at Hilton Pollards. What a great trip!!!! Gus is a delightful bloke and well worth catching up with if he is in your neck of the woods. Shorty

Hi all, Gus has been at our place for the last couple of days after returning from Hiltons place, we took him out 4WDriving Sunday as promised, I think he enjoyed the day, although we had to re-fit his auto hubs/Flanges as the free wheeling hubs kept jumping out, that took 15/20mins, although sitting halfway up a steep rocky climb wasn't the best workshop environment:p

After re-fitting it was back into the climb and up she went no worries:D

On the way home we took the scenic route, and dropped into Dullbirds place to introduce Gus and have a chat.

Gus is still at our place as far as I know and is heading south along the old coast road and over the sea bridge(Old Princes Hwy) down to Wollongong and then over to Canberra, either today or tomorrow, he is definately doing the sea bridge first though.

If you see Gus and his 107, give him a wave, oh and he likes a beer or two and is a great bloke:beer::BigThumb:

First a big thanks to Redback and family for all the hospitality and help. As mentioned got the Genny fixed, went 4 wheel driving, and am on the road again. Attempted to surf at Wollongong, but conditions were crap. Heading south along the coast road, then over to Canberra for a few days looking around. Then it will be on south Tasmania way to try and catch the summer for some bush walking, surfing and exploring.
