Well having just acquired my L322 V8 I noticed I had a slight drop of coolant coming from the rear of the engine.
So investigation lead me too pulling the the plenum out and engine top cover off.
Pretty sure these hoses are all original 02/03, not a real good look are they, 5 hoses all up I will replace.
Timely reminder with summer heat coming on to have a look in this remote area of your engine bay.

Repairs now done.
One thing I did notice is that the heater control valve has 2 rubber boots on the top side of the solenoid activated needle valves (2), the rubber boots were well perished and crumbling.
This allows coolant to get up into the solenoid not a big deal short term other than it will seize them eventually.
However of more concern is the rubber flowing through the oil coolers and causing a blockage. Also the radiator.
My Auxiliary coolant pump was also knackered, not a big deal either as coolant will still flow through it.
I found a post on FFRR, a work shop quoted 750 euros to change the two drive belts on a V8 4.4L L322  I did mine in less than an hour and parts were $40;)

BTW... did you check to see whether the vehicle was affected by the front drive shaft (prop shaft) recall and if so had it been done? Just wondering;)

It has the recall sticker inside the drivers door, so yes I guess it has had it done.
