Which bit of the cruise control? There's a mini relay inside the ECM, there's a lockout relay in the righthand footwell. Does cruise work? Check out the electrical troubleshootong manual for the description and sequence of tests. They're fairly staightforward. And good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I've located the relay in the rt hand footwell, changed it and no difference. Sometimes the cruise engages only to drop out a bit later. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes longer. I suspect it's one of the vacuum line connections that are leaking.

I had a Cruise problem in my 97 v8i Disco.
Turned on fine sometime's only to drop out with no warning.
Or just wouldnt set at all on some days.
Found a small crack in the vacume line where it conected to the actuator, pulled it off and trimed it back behind the crack and refitted it.
Been fine ever since.

Try checking that the brake pedal is not making too much contact with the brake light switch. Had this problem on mr 93 RR.

Clarky, did your brake lights work when the switch failed to release? That's the critical bit - this action fires the CC cutout, as does vacuum switch circuit. Clearance on this switch is important - check the book. If all the components check out OK, check continuity in loom between bottom of spiral (steering wheels switches) and ECU. Lioness' car "developed" a problem in this area and couldn't get 12V to coil in vacuum pump to seal the vacuum circuit. Now solved - tricky little sucker!
