Hi

Had a little mishap with one of my 'keys' while we were at Fraser a couple of weeks back... It got left in the camper trailer while we were packing up, and in the process was squashed by the poles!
Anyway, it still works (is still recognised by the vehicle), and the buttons seem to work...:)
However the key is in a bad way, and is generally in the process of disintegrating :(

The purpose of this post is to find out about replacements... I haven't rung LR yet to get a price, but expect this to be EXPENSIVE!
Does anyone have any experience with this? What's the cheapest way out of this? Are there aftermarket alternatives?

Thanks in anticipation!

I had to get a new key.
Took a week from the UK, cost $380.

My key fob had holes in it, so I searched and bought a new one for about $20.00, which was only the housing but included a new blank key. I just changed the electronics and had the key cut to match my spare and all works fine.

Just a conclusion to this...
I managed to source a new key housing for my D4 key (for the princely sum of ~$20). Austral L/R in Bris were the only ones I could find who even listed a replacement key fob housing. Everyone else (dealers plus parts suppliers) could only find and sell a whole replacement key (for more than $400!)...

I've just reconstructed my key into the new housing - basically everything except the housing comes out of the old key, and goes into the new one.
And it works! For $20 - VERY satisfied... :D
