Awning Extentions???

Has anyone made an awning extension? I know you can buy them for certain awning like the oztrail one, also noted a member on here has one, cannot remember who though.

I was thinking, would it be hard to modify a tarp to work the same? looking at my awning its just a 'C' channel type arrangement that a pipe or something slides down, if you were to roll the tarp and glue it or something into a 'pipe' then slide it up the channel (mine has the channel on both ends) would it work the same?

anyone done this or has any ideas to chime in on?

We have an extended awning so we don't need to do this, our awning being 2.4m x 5.0m as standard, but, we did do an extention on our camper awning, we bought some canvas to do it, but if you have some canvas lying about, use that.

But some tarp will do the job as well, lot's of mates I go camping with use a tarp to extend or use as a wall, they just put new eyelets in to match their awning.
