I have fitted a new Quality Lucas(Delphi) CAV fuel filter with glass bowl.Fantastic! As the filter element only cost $7.00 as opposed to the LR or Ryco filter cost $58-60.
The initial cost of the Delphi CAV was $89.00 including filter element ,this is only a one off cost as the filter element from now on is$7.00 at each schedule service interval.
For those of you interested look for the 14mm unit which is the same fitting as the LR unit.
You can also pick up the same from a second hand tractor wreckers for about $20-40.
The benefit is that you can see(the fuel)and any gunk or water in the filter before you need to drain.

G'day Diggers,

Yes, Denso do an adapter also that just replaces the LR filter with the same filter and a glass bowl.

I bought mine about 3 years ago from Berrima Diesel - West of Sydney via mail order.

Made servicing much easier and cheaper - changed the fuel filer every 10,000km due to the cheapness of the filter.

How did you go with the conversion and connection of the water detection sensor in the original filter to fit the new assembly? I'm interested in fitting one to my 2001 Disco. The fuel filter is located under the drivers side rear wheel arch. Looks vulnerable to damage but has survived to date.:?:
