I think someone posted on here a while back, but I can't find it.
It's a generic phone holder which sort of has claws to hold the phone and suctions on to the windscreen.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? - and a good source / eaby link etc would be very helpful !

There are also these which are more expensive but stick to just about anything: http://www.exogear.com/products-exomount2-car-mount-holder.html

I use the belkin one. Easy to use, holds my phone well on and off road and it has a nice flexy arm that lets me put it where i want it.
$38 at most electronics mobs

Needs to be able to hold a Galaxy S4 in a Otter Defender box.
WhiteD3 - yep that's the one ! I found them on ebay and there seem to be some very similar RAM suction ones from teh same supplier. Couple fo $ differenece in price. I've emailed him to see if there is in fact any difference.....
They are ex-USA though not sure of local suppliers or prices here.
(I can't click that link from work to see what it is... )

For the Defender what do you reckon wouldbe teh better option.
Suction windscreen mount, or adhesive dash mount?
The most convenient place to mount it would be to the RHS of the instrument binnacle, as I'm right handed but how securely does this mount hold the phone? I'd hate for it to get bumped and go flying out the window......
Also would there be any GPS reception problems in that location?

The ram windscreen mount is extremely solid once attached, you can get short or long arms which put the phone closer too you, also handy for iPad mounting.

I have one of these: Universal 360° CAR Mount Windshield Holder Stand FOR Smart Phone GPS NEW | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-360-Car-Mount-Windshield-Holder-Stand-for-Smart-Phone-GPS-New-/400459894974)
Solid mount and very nice price :)

FWD the price is certainly right but would it fit a Samsung Galaxy S4 in an otterbox defender case?".
edit: seems perhaps not. Teh ad says
"Suitable for 3.3-4.3" mobile pone" (sic)
I wonder how they measure that.
In the case mine is 3" x 3 3/4
Maybe they measure it like a TV....
On the diagonal its 6 1/2 "

I use one of these Kenu Airframe - Kenu (http://www.kenu.com/products/airframe) I swap it between my disco, the wifes bus, the work ute, and whatever else im in,
It opens wide enough for the iphone in a otterbox defender and a bit wider so I reckon the s4 should fit.
also if you decide to order one I think there cheaper from the apple online shop than from kenu direct
in the discovery 2 it pushes onto the plastic between the radio and the air vents, just above the air con stuff

I'm thinking the RAM mount but torn between dash mount (self adhesive) and windscreen sucker !

I have a dash mount on both of my defenders
I personally think with the screen mount it makes them too high on a defender
Mine has stuck well , secret is to wash the area where you want to stick the mount , with metho or a bit of petrol and dry it then stick the self adhesive dash mount.

That holder just fits in my s4 with a dodgy unbranded case, total sizing at 83mm wide x 150mm high.
I did modify the mount by pulling out the little rubber inserts inside the bottom mounts (that's what I have a case for!) and after that change it fits my phone, but anything larger would struggle (especially height wise).
Unfortunately I could not find a similar mount in a larger size.

Another tip re where to mount, especially if self adhesive, so less able to relocate than suction type . . . if you're using GPS you'll need to have it on charge, as battery drains quicker, so wherever you mount it, needs to be in easy reach of your in-vehicle charger to 12 volt plug/cig lighter plug.
