Hi has anyone got the pin out diagram/list for a TD5 ECU 2004?
Got an annoying earth fault on the a/c relay and I think it's earthed through the ECU :(

Do a google search for "land rover defender 2002 wiring diagram Its pretty widely available on the internet and will tell you all you need to know

You haven't dislodged and/or pushed the connector pins out through the bottom of the relay/fuse box in the engine bay have you by any chance? Happened with my 04 D2a recently and Dave Dover identified the problem. If so, you need to take out the relay box and push them back in from underneath.

It's a Defender but connectors look ok, a/c works fine but if it's not switched on the relay sounds like a machine gun until either a/c is switched on or brake lights are on or heated screen is on or lights are switched on, very odd.

From that description, it sounds like an earthing problem.

Yep but as the relay is earthed through the ECU and the ECU has an earth running straight to the batteries it has to be a pin problem in the ECU plugs (I think :) )

I am not sure is right but to me it looks like CO556 is the relevant earth under the seat with multiple connectors going to the ECU on
CO658-1, CO658-2, CO658-24, CO658-25 with CO658-29 being the connector to the relay.
CO658 is the black plug on the ECU
Presume you have substituted one of the other relays to confirm its not just a crook relay
Not saying its relevant but clean up the earth behind the coolant bottle they get dirty and cause issues
Hope this helps

Try the blue earth plugs under the drivers seat. Mine were coroded and had relays going like Chinese new year. If they are coroded the you may have bad earth.

I had a similar issue and it was the pressuresensor/switch that goes in the A/C circuit, it was in bad shape so put the system in short. This sensor sends the signal to the ecu for compressor activation when system pressure is correct (is for compressor security, measures if R134a is enough). It seems when I applied brakes something happened in the interior and the compressor went off....
