Hi guys,

It's located at the Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs.
it still goes , it's a series 2 lwb , 186 holden motor, radiator is on a frame
on the roof with a chair there as well, and all sits on aircraft tyres on widened spilt rims . awesome to drive!

methinks there must be a disease that kicks in somewhere as we approach 80-90 posts, that makes us post uncontrollably trying to reach that magical "100",then ,once reached ,must push on regardless towards the next magical number, and so on, and so on..............

I will have some pics in another month or so when my old man gets back from Kakadu and the Kimberlies (lucky bastard), he rang me from Alice Springs over easter and told me he saw it and took a couple of pics for me.
I think he just rings to keep rubbing it in

8) wow, thanks for finding those pictures.
looks as if lasseter really needed to find the reef to fund the car.
i can't work out the roof radiator, is it electric driven or are those hoses to the motor therefore hydraulic maybe?

Dunno about the radiator but here is a link to another photo

The writing on the sign is almost legible.

8) thanks, i was able to read the sign and find the fan was electric.
another good idea was the rigid bar they connected the two vehicles together with to give effectivly 8 wheel drive [although i am pretty sure they didn't have locking diffs- unless they welded them- so they would have been back to four wd in some cases]

A long time ago I knew his grandson, and met his son a few times as well. He had an engineering shop next to ours when I was an apprentice. Really nice people, and they'd made numerous treks out there trying to find the elusive reef, both wheeled and aerial.
FWIW, I know a member on here that only seems to lurk that works occaisonally at the Transport Museum. Maybe I can do some cyber arm twisting to get some fresh photos. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
