Hi guys ive got an ex military vehicle stuck a Patricks Autos in port Adelaide with a fuel problem, it idles as rough as guts and when the accelerator is pressed it cuts out, it was Ok a couple of days ago so is probably something simple, it has a 3.9D Isuzu engine, is there anybody who wants to earn a quid to take a look and get it running.

Hi Ian.
Working until Sat morning but could get down then if that's a help... Offender90 on here round a 4Bdt powered 120. He's not to very far from there, and might be able to help. If its urgent, PM me and I could try and get down there tonight. Cheers, Simon. :)

Thanx Simon, I have had to arrange to get it towed away, the local mechanic 'Jeffuern' has just rang and told me its an electric motor which operates the fuel pump, he is going to fit a manual choke cable to turn the pump on and off as a stop gap, this should get it moving until I can get it fixed this end.

I appreciate the offer. Ian

Do a search for EDIC motor in the Isuzu section of the forum, this is what your mechanic describes. But it shouldn't stop the motor from throttling up if it already idles, the lever actuates an on/off with no proportional opening as far as I understand.

Yer I believe it is seized up and I am gonna need a replacement, he is not sure where to get one and I kinda get the impression he wants the job outa the way.

I may get in contact when I get it back in WA.

Disconnect the edic motor, make sure lever is in 'run' position (trial and error maybe?) start engine, when you want to turn the engine off just move the lever on the injector pump and it'll shut the fuel off.

Ian is in WA and the vehicle is in Adelaide. Patricks (transport company) are trying to get it onto a transporter to be shipped across....

Yes, got that, just trying to suggest an easy solution for Patricks to accomplish.

Unfortunately its in the lap of the gods, the mechanic knows Patricks Auto quite well so between them they should get it going, trouble is I don't know how long the vehicles been sitting, the seized motor may just need greasing up, Spudboy says it was working fine for the last couple of weeks.

Ok the mechanic- Jeffuern picked it up on a flat bed and installed a manual cable to turn the fuel pump on and off and has dropped it back to Patrick Auto depot for transportation, he says its working fine and in very good condition which is good to hear.
How much did he charge for this fantastic customer service, just over 300 bucks. The blokes a legend, I recon that would have cost me 3 times that in WA.

Ive never been to Adelaide but everyone I've dealt with from Graysonline auction Adelaide, Patricks Auto and Jeff the mechanic have been exceptionally friendly, patient and helpful, you lot are a credit to SA.

If anybody knows where I can get an Edic motor from that will fit I would appreciate it.

Cheers guys.

Good to hear it's been sorted for now.
I've never bought one as my County has a manual fuel cut off, but I understand Chop Hock Hong stock the edic motors. Do a search in the Isuzu landy section.
