+2" ShocK Aborbers

Decided I wanted to use decent shocks with with lift.

Priced up Bilsteins from Quadrant here and happy with the price, just a bit nervous running monotube out the back blocks due the heat generation and stone damage.

Toperformance only have the Raids in +2", no Heavy Track. I was a bit :eek: at the price of the Raids.

I note Paddock have Heavy Track +2", 82-2569 & 82-2568, listed at good prices.
Has anyone imported them from there and what were the shipping costs?
Were there any issues importing gas filled items?

Got the Raids from Paddocks a couple of years back. Recall shipping was about GBP50 no issues with shipping and arrived within a week. Simply put an order in to Paddocks and request a shipping quote you can always cancel before billing if you don't like it.

I ordered 4 x heavy tracks from them about 4 months ago and shipping was £93mfrom memory that was the cheapest option. They are a bit random with what they will and won't ship in terms of shocks.

Looking further into this I find that the +2" shocks are oil only and the standard heights are spx with low pressure gas which explains the differences in their shipping policy.

I have been in contact with Paddock and they say to order and they will calculate the shipping price then. If I am not happy with that price I can cancel the order.

If I decide to go this way I will update with the shipping price for future reference.

So now the choice is to go with Koni oils or monotube gas Bilsteins?

Monotubes' advantage on corrugations is heat dissipation, seeing they have only one tube. I once burnt myself touching one on the Mitchell Falls track. My experience and that of Graeme Cooper is that Billies are one of few shocks that will fully recover from a long run of corrugations.
The fronts will have no problem with stones.
Rears may have problems. My experience after about 20Kk on dirt was that one became dented.
I think this happened before I made guards from perforated plate for cooling. You can buy guards, but they are solid and IMHO will affect heat dissipation. Nearly all stone damage on an RRC seems to happen on the lowest 50--70MM of the shock , so you can make guards out of perforated plate from Bunnings, a bit of steel for a bracket and a hose clamp.

Konis are also good , and my camper trailer ones have had a hiding, Now 16 years old and I think need adjusting as I noticed the trailer bouncing a couple of times on a speed bump.
