Gday All,

I read this story a couple of years ago and wasn't surprised to see a movie made about it.

The story is about a American merchant ship that gets hijacked off the Somalia coast and the events that followed.

The movie is an absolute cracker and is very close to the book written by the captain of the ship...Captain Phillips.

There are far worse movies around, and if this sort of true story is your thing, then this movie is definately for you.I don't think you will be disappointed you spent the admission fee.

Cheers Ean

Thanks.
Saw the adds, got me interested.
There are a few actors who chose their movies and the movies they chose are usually pretty good.
Tom Hanks is one of those actors.

Tom Hanks is the perfect choice to play the captain. The guys who play the hijackers are amazing, not sure where they found them, but wouldn't surprise me if it was on a beach in Somalia.

I read in a review that the actors that played the pirates had no acting experience and were picked up at a local village.

Looking forward to seeing the movie.:D Yes, I also heard the actors who played the part of the pirates are untrained in acting.:o Apparently, they did a very good job at acting in that role.:)

Was anything like this mentioned in the film?

Wouldn't be the first time a movie doesn't accurately depict the events that took place. I would have been surprised if it did, however a movie is made for entertainment and I think it should be viewed in that light.:D

Funny that, they are suing the company for $50mil, can see why they dispute the actions, otherwise it may jepordise their case.

I didnt come away from the movie thinking the captain was any sort of hero, and why did the ship follow him? they could quite easily have left him with the pirates and got the hell outta there.

Dont think it would matter what scenario any movie is made about , there will always be differing veiws.

Personally I thought the US navy were the hero's, but Im not suing for $50 mil either.
