Kuhmo KL71 tyres

Anyone had any experience with these?

I'm about due to replace my muddies and these look pretty good and Kuhmo generally build a pretty decent tyre from previous experience with passenger car tyres. They are being advertised at $299 each which I'm pretty confident I can do better on with some shopping.

I currently have Maxxi Bighorns which I've been pretty happy with getting about 70k from them.

yes mate, I've had them on grumble for 60,000kms still plenty tread left, excellent offroad low pressure, excellent mud, I drove them across the Simpson...they need to be aired down fairly low for the red sand otherwise they dig. they have been up and down the Birdsville, Strezleckie, Oodnadatta and every other mongrel track and road throughout that area including the Flinders Ranges. On the bitumen....fair.....they walk on the knobs....they will let go suddenly cornering and braking at same time....they are noisy and under brakes you can actually feel the knobs vibrating. If you can put up with on road inconvenience and asjust your driving for it, they will reward you off road. Mine are currently sitting in my shed....I took them off for my last trip knowing full well what type of driving I was going to do.....currently have new Bridgestone 697's which are the duck's guts on the unsealed roads and bitumen. I ran 245/70's on the D2 and they are a much larger tyre than the same numbers in 697's.

Bridgestone are in the process of superceding the 673 with the 674.
I have used and loved the 673 for seven or so years.

Prices on the 673 are now pretty competitive (read about $60 cheaper than the khumo you posted) as they are being run out. I am trying to work out how many to buy at the reduced rate ;)

Running 235/85R16 I get about 50k or so before I move them along with 5-8mm of tread left at that distance (no point running bald MTs) . My use is ~90% off road but they are still reasonable on the black. They dont chip out like BFG KM2 on fast gravel and dont get punctures like Coopers ... just good quality low bling tyres.

Think I'll check out the Bridgestones. The Kuhmo's sound good but probably not ideal for my normal use.

go the Bridgestone 697's....you should be able to get them for $240/skin, fitted and balanced.

i have the 674's, good price for the smaller size i am running 245/70/16 was $214ea. still to try off road but good manners on road so far. :)

I had KL71's on my vitara, they were the best tires I have ever owned for a 4wd including the mickey T's which I thought were the worst!!!!!!

the KL71 is nice and 'flat' rather then rounded like a bike tire (hope im making sense) they work well in soft sand, big rocks and are great in glasshouse clay. never got stuck with them :) I would buy them again if I had the money. though they are not the cheapest option.

I have Bridgestone Dueler A/T's on the D1 245/70/16 and very happy with them both highway and light offroad,find them good in the wet on the M1 as most of my driving is highway GC-Bribie-Nambour area :)
Running 235-75-15's on the RRC Nexen A/T's good highway,wet dirt and long rural stock grass :)
