Hi, my 09 Defender 110 clutch is now starting to slip in 6th when I put my foot down (it has only done 87k so I am a bit surprised) My question is what alternative options do I have? Are there better clutches that I could fit rather than the oem?

I replaced mine at 71,000 but more because the gearbox was out at the time, don't forget the throwout bearing while your doing it.
Not sure about HD clutches, I would think that they might not be a great idea with the weak puma driveline but I am not an expert, more a drip under pressure ;)

Thinking I might be up for a clutch replacement, I asked Landrover at the last service to check it. Response was needs replacement. Car has done 165000kms. Clutch is mostly good, occasionally noisy at idle which I think is the springs in the plate. The tiniest bit of slip very occasionally when cold and knotchier than it used to be occasionally coming down through mid range gears.
What options are there? Has any one fitted a heavier duty clutch? I intend keeping the car for the long term.
Also any recommendations for a mechanic/ workshop who knows his way around a Landrover to fit non genuine products like a clutch, as from experience Landrover service do not deviate from what they can get off the shelf that complies with their parts book.

Understand Puma clutch plates get the rattles. There is a SB. Simply states that if the customer gets too upset (under new car warranty) change the clutch plate. There are about 3 iterations of the plate, all have the spring retainers eventually rattling.
The SB also states, as I recall, that the rattling does not affect the operation and serviceability of the plate over the long term.
However, slipping of a clutch is "oil soaked"; pressure plate; or worn friction material. All classed as normal wear and tear. Note that if anyone needs to go in there one should get all of the clutch slave cylinder stuff from bearing back to pedal hose renewed. Any of that requires a gearbox removal because of centre push/pull. :( That is FORD!
