Hello All

We have late 2009 Vogue TDV8 and will be towing a reasonably heavy Caravan.

Planning to fit a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 in the car and would welcome advice/experience on locating the unit in the cabin.

Obviously I would not want too many holes etc. and ideally would be able to ensure the unit is mounted horizontal to ensure optimum performance.

Any photos would be great as it will give our auto electrician sound guidelines for the install.

Thanks you
Rod

I put mine in the little cubby hole that has the OBD2 plug.

Not really a no holes install, I figure it can stay there when it goes.

Not a L322, but in my D4 the Tekonsha P3 is mounted on the trim panel above the drivers left knee. It is positioned so that I can reach it by stretching my Left arm down a little and can see the screen through the steering wheel when in the straight ahead position.

In this position it is out of the way, easily accessible and does not take up any other space that can be used for other odds and ends.

BTW: I don't think Tekonsha use the Prodigy name with the P3.

I will be mounting mine on top of the dash right hand side next to "A " pillar. No room under dash as my legs are there. Although mine is an MY05 so will be a bit different to your's.
You must be able to reach the manual over ride is case of emergency.

Hi Guys
Have taken your feedback on board and also discussed with our local LR dealer, they suggested either under the dash, within arms reach on the left side or on top of the dash on the right side near the pillar. I am hesitant about drilling into the dash and will go with the lower level. Once done will post some photos.

What about the knee airbag? Our freelander didn't have enough room so it went on top of centre console towards instrument cluster side. Holes... But it will be sold with vehicle when it goes

Hi Meken
Yes it will be loaded below the knee bags as advised by the dealer.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi,

I have a 2008 L322 with a leg airbag and wanted to fit a brake controller.

I opted for a remote head unit, but was scratching for a location for the controller dial. While there is only a small dial and a light, there is not a lot of space on the dash. Eventually I found an ideal location next to the handbrake.

Welcome.

That’s nice and neat, it is a pity the remote head units are not proportional controllers - only reason I didn't go that way.
