View Full Version : Still Waiting for the Sky to Fall

Hello All,

It has now been a full day since another Series 3 Land Rover parts vehicle followed me home. It was even parked right out in the open next to the other Land Rovers in my paddock. So I have been becoming increasingly restless about the chance of a sudden storm or the sky to fall on top of me. You know the bit about wrath ...

However, Leeann my wife, is still speaking to me and has said absolutely nothing about the extra item. An item which she has walked past on a number of occasions.

I was going to say that "it followed me home" which it did thanks to help from Tim J and Harry or The Ho Har's fame. Thank you very much Tim and Harry it was good to meet you and be able to put faces to names without being a crowded sea of other faces being around. Also a thank you for Paul (Pop058) for organising things and vehicle storage.

I had best keep ducking or weaving and not staying in one place because that sky could leap at me at any moment while I am least expecting it!

Or maybe there is a magic number of Land Rovers where even those nearest and dearest to you consider you as a lost cause? Land Rover Addict.

Kind Regards
Lionel

Selective blindness.
In a day or three you'll get a "What's that thing?"

So you didn't think to bring home some fake long grass to put around it ? :lol2:.

I think you need to check in your Wife's wardrobe or shoe closet. She has obviously had retail guilt which you have balanced out with your unauthorised buying. :o You never really know exactly how many handbags she has, in the same way as she never really knows how many projects you have.

I think it's great. Yours and Tim's means I cleared out 2 parking spots :) That means I can get at least ONE replacement :D

just tell her you re arranged the yard and lined them all up,
I deliberately rotate them regularly moving order, size colour etc and
managed two weeks before a new one was noticed. :)

The next one you get you could tell her "It's Mick's. He just needed a place to put it."

Lionel,

Hello from Brisbane and I hear you bro.

I have travelled this tricky path many a time with the child bride (Mrs S3ute).

Many a well-attempted ruse of putting new parts on the shelf between existing items, rolling them in the dirt for instant ageing or - when desparation really calls for it - attempt the old Rob Roy spider web trick (Mrs S3ute doesn't like arachnids much) has come unstuck with a co-oing "where did that come from"? The old "Oh, I had that before the golden dawn of our meeting" and it's transformation to "been there for years" are wearing thin after 27 years of union.

So, now it is case of simply muttering "oh, must have needed it for the dreaded restoration. By the way how is the new kitchen, bathroom, kybo, your Golf Sports service and new tyres, or S3 junior's othodontistry bill coming along"? Works better than my late Dad's "Look a two-headed cow. You don't see many of them around these days".

Give it a try.

Failing that always fall back on to the well worn strategy of forgiveness being easier to secure than permission......

Cheers,

The idea is to have a big enough collection of Landys that an extra one simply doesn't get noticed. Once you get to that stage they've long realised it's no point even saying anything any more. :D

Cheers, Murray

Hello All,

Well I was asked rather quietly last night during a lull in the TV show that Leeann and I were watching... "How long has that extra Land Rover been there for?"

I say equally as quietly... "Extra Land Rover ... what extra Land Rover?"

The TV show regains its tempo and nothing else has been said.

Sometimes the old "act dumb and say very little" technique does work.

Upon reflection; I think it might be instalment two because I did get the cold shoulder treatment a couple of days ago. Or perhaps it was for another one of my many apparent failings. You know always in the manure - only the depth varies

Kind Regards
Lionel

G'day Lionel :)

The "Management" has been appeased about my getting the S3 Lightweight, she took delivery of our new Border Collie Pup last week from Victoria :D and it is very nice little girl at that.

My current collection stands at 1 x S2a,1 x S3 L/weight,1 x 85 Rangie Classic,1 x Disco1 300TDI Auto.

Do disassembled Land Rovers count?

SWMBO is particular about the front driveway, so I was down on my hands and knees ----- weeding around the trees, fence posts and along the side of the driveway.

So far the collection is safe down on the end of 'Ranga Flats' . :p

The workshop manuals do get short shift from the kitchen table, and any parts that unfortunately land there, are sure to earn me quite a few laps of the same. :bat:

This thread has just given me (and SWMBO who is giggling to my left) a lot of laughs... There's quite a few lines that I've used, but that said..... She does have The Golf!, The Ser 2 in our workshop is hers, we needed a 20' shipper when we migrated here (just for the shoes)...... So, on that grounds, I think my singular 101 and rather large diesel are just the beginning...... What to buy next?? 6x6 Scania or Merc perhaps... :D

Funny how that one keeps coming up.

Very early on my mother told that under no circumstances no matter what your fathers mother may have let him get away with am I to find car parts in the house. Seems that my father stripped and rebuilt an engine with a lot of the work being carried out in the kitchen and lounge room of his mothers house and nothing was said. From very early on wife came out with the same demand this without even hearing the story about my father.

Hello Sitec,

Is your avatar a Pinzgauer High-Mobility All-Terrain Vehicle? Is it currently or formerly your vehicle?

Hello 3toes,

My King Dick Deep Crank ring spanners arrived from the UK safe and sound. They are certainly a good quality tool.
