Okay - we have a 2008 hse free2 diesel. We have recently bought a goldstream camper van - it's weighs in at about 1.5t loaded.
We are heading to inskip point (qld) for Christmas and we need to tow the van in through a sand track that's has some very soft areas. So now my wife is worried the free2 won't cut the mustard and we won't be able to pull the van in to the camping area.

( I did manage to bog a 100 series diesel (non turbo) but I was in high range & the tyres were too high.

Now we are looking at at disco 3 diesel as a tug
Thoughts appreciated
Ken

A D3 is pretty heavy and sand isn't its best surface while the FL2 is excellent on sand but you are towing. What size wheels are on each of them? The D3 has a distinct clearance advantage. I'd probably pick a D3 over an FL2 in any off road situation.

Just a word to the wise, you may well fall foul of the mods for posting the same question in two forums. ;)

Yes I realise it's a double post - but I'm chasing feedback from both Free2 owners as well as D3 owners.
While I'm on here what's the difference like between the 2.7l D3 & the 3.0l D4 ?

Do I need to search noisy bearings?
