Had to replace the Serpentine Belt tensioner a week ago, also did the belt. The idler pulley and Aircon pump bearings was done with in the last 12 months.

There is now a infrequent squeak noise at idle, it's not the belt squeal. It gets worse if the Aircon is switched on. As soon as the revs pick up the noise goes away. With the belt off the Aircon pump does make a little noise when spun by hand. The water pump/ power steering pulley does not make any sound but when spun forwards and backwards there is a clunking noise as you change direction.

The other thing I noticed is that the tensioner bounce around at idle but as soon as the revs pick up just a little it stops and remain steady.

Has anybody experienced something simular that can shed some light on the issue for me?

Cheers, Jurgens.

I've have the same issue
It's driving me nuts
I found there were different length belts
On second belt tensioner in less than 2000 ks
Going to have it serviced ASAP and see if they ca work out what it is

Might be worth looking at the crankshaft pulley. Is it bouncing around? If it is then it could be a failed harmonic balancer.

Jurgens,

As suggested you should have a good look at the harmonic balancer

Mine started doing this after I changed the belt.
New idler, harmonic balancer only 12 months old and it still does it.
Found that I had the wrong size belt I needed a 7PK1820 not a 7PK1830
It still does it slightly but its nothing like it was
