My perentie didn't come with the tools on the bonnet- wouldn't mind putting them on- are they just standard hardware store tools or special army type?

I went to bunnings, bought the Cyclone branded stuff and it fitted up fine, I couldn't find the Pickaxe so i just threw on a Mattock. Buy some linseed oil while your there as they will dry out and splinter if you don't look after them
The tools are a whole lot different from the genuine gear but they do the job

Standard hardware store type. They were originally Australian made Cyclone or Trojan tools, but nowadays even these brands have many of their tools made elsewhere with just a brand sticker. Pick head was made by "Hytest". Cyclone do a "4x4 Shovel" that is a very close sopy of the original, and Bunnings sell a swedish "Plumb" axe that's a good fit.
Also keep an eye out at swapmeets and 2nd hand shops, as the tools don't easily wear out, and while you might be lucky enough to find one with the Army Broadarrow stamp, the general piblic ones are the same.

Yep the Cyclone 4x4 shovel is army issue as is the cyclone axe (with a straight handle), HYTEST pick is correct for 2A's and S3's Perentie's had cyclone picks as well - all available at hardware stores, only they don't have a broad arrow, although they don't anymore anyway....

I was also wondering what the other 2 bonnet brackets with the strapping wrapped around them were originally for?

The two brackets with straps are to tie down the windscreen, stop it bouncing and breaking, and hold it high enough to not break the glass against the tools/holders.
