SWMBO who walks Monday to Friday along the beach for some 15 kms (there and back) often comes back with some "Treasures" she finds on the beach particularly during Winter.
A couple of weeks ago she showed me what she called "some plastic thing", it turnde out to be a GoPro Hero camera in a plastic waterproof case, the case was scratched all over obviously due to some time in the sea.
I unclipped it from the case and discovered that the camera was perfectly dry and was loaded with a micro SD disk.
Putting the disk into a computer showed us three young surfers, probably at a holiday house but I have no idea where.
The last date on the disk was August 2008 so the camera had supposedly been in the water for 5 years and was in perfect working order whenI recharged the battery
Says a lot for the GoPro waterproof quality

Great story. :D

There's been quite a few stories like this involving GoPro cameras. They've often been reunited with their owners. Are you going to see if you can find out who it belongs to?

You could try posting the pics and where you found the camera here: Home | Swellnet (http://www.swellnet.com/)

I read a story in the '70s about someone who bought a Leica(?) camera at an autojumble in the U.K., and discovered that it still had film in it. They developed the film and discovered that all the shots were taken in the pits at the Isle of Man motorcycle races in 1939. The article showed some of the photos.

Maybe a seagull stole it. They seem to like them...

I never trusted seagulls. There's something fishy about them. :D
