Is your 90 still cool if you bought it brand new? I should be typing this wearing my shades coz I must be really cool seeing as I have have the number 1 car on this list and have had a Beemer in the past, it was an E34, 5 series but same vintage as the Beemer listed and I have had a Mini Moke.

Interesting that five out of the ten pictures used show left hand drive cars - hardly a tribute to the journalist's ability to find relevant pictures! And two of them you can't tell which side the wheel is!

The Defender aside, there are only two (260z & 928s) I would bother crossing the road to look at.......

The others are ozzzing something but it's not cool

Yes I can see quite a few there that would be nightmares.

Mini Moke / Karmann Ghia Rust buckets.

928 S eye watering parts prices eg ignition switch $800 and habit of filling Auto with water. My son's best friend owns one and very old fashioned to drive. He also owns a Cooper S Mk2 which IS cool and can be forgiven for being RS to drive.
I had a 924 Turbo at one stage which had quite a few shared parts with 928S. Luckily the ignition switch was VW and cost $70 , after Bob Whym initially quoted me $800 and I fell on the floor.

260Z? 240 Z is the one to have except the trim has all fallen apart.

I reckon super cool are 57 Thunderbird with slanty fins, and Studebaker Avanti as featured in latest Classic Car. Porsche 356 Super and Speedster if remotely possible.

Oh and maybe Purple E36 M3 going by the teenage girl who hung out a car window and said "cool car" . At least I think that is what she said.

Hmmmmm,, I'll have #1, 6, 8 and thanks :D

Mine might not be a 90, but my 110 CC is still wayyyy cool
I've had the Beetle, that was way cool too. I'd definitely have another :D

And Phillip, I don't care if the Karmann is a rust bucket,,, I still love them. ;)

Stumbled across a VW show down in Berry (2 hours south of Sydney). last photo - zoom in on the sticker on the rear window. These rusty looking things have V6 motors, etc in them - look like rubbish and go like the clappers. Split screens kombis are super expensive - guys at the show said one went in the usa for $200K recently. :)
ps I'll go the mini moke -takes me a long way back to my teens
Muzzy -you're cooler than James Bond :D

A Chinese firm has the rights to these and they are expected to go on sale in Australia again shortly. You can buy a new one, if you have enough money.

Couldn't agree more with number 9 but i may be biased :D:D.

My GTV6 still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it and the and nothing can beat the sound of the V6 going for the redline....

Cheers

Steve.

How is a 928 Porsche cool? :(

I'd sooner buy a Renault Alpine!

I don't have the dough JDNSW:( Mind you it's like a smaller defender isn't it? Loud, slowish and leaky, but fun and cool :)

A Chinese Moke? OMG! check this out...

1000cc Gasoline Classic Mini Moke Made In China - Buy Moke,Mini,Auto Product on Alibaba.com (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/301069302/1000cc_Gasoline_Classic_Mini_Moke_made.html)

They are only $7500 US - mind you it will probably jump up to $30,000 AUD if they ever get imported into Australia (we get badly ripped off with car prices in this country). It says they have 970 cc engine - wonder if it's the BMC A Series engine, a copy, or something different altogether. However, I still want one! Sorry if this is off topic in a Defender forum, but I love quirky British cars - well almost - Leyland Marinas didn't quite make it to my top 1000 favourite cars of all time.
cheers

I assume they have an existing engine that meets modern emission standards and is in series production for some other car (same for the transmission). This would definitely not be the A-Series or anything related to it. I note that it has EFI and a five speed box, both of which hardly match the original! I don't think the suspension has anything in common with the original either, again, probably off some other vehicle.

The likes of ANY Dodge challenger, Plymouth Superbee or roadrunner, and Charger are just waaaayy up there for me. Any Hemi actually:cool:.

VW, we grew up with a splitty 1967 with a UK Dormobile camper conversion, would be worth 50K+ now if we still had it:(

Lots of Beetles, and Valiants too.

Cool cars are very personal, I like stuff others don't :)

928s are cool. I still remember seeing my first one as a kid, it was futuristic looking and stopped me dead in my tracks. A nice original one in the right spec would be very cool. Not as cool as a 70s or 80s 911 but still cool.

I like all the cars on that list. Plenty of others are more worthy IMO but its still a good list.

Alpines are cool as well.

I saw a convoy of Bolwell Nagaris on the weekend and they blew the cool meter to pieces!

can't believe a split kombi isn't in the top 10. Don't get me wrong i love my 110 but i say a splitty trumps most things when it comes to cool, maybe an E-type or a VW 'thing' (depending if you think they are cool or just plain weird) should have also gotten a look in.
The 260 tho, i agree with that for sure, love a good Datsun.

That list did nothing for me.
My favourite US Muscle Car, the Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi R/T, in fact any big block US car from that era, 327/350 Monaros, V12 E type, M.B. 300SEL 6.3, 450SEL 6.9....and plenty more.
Cheers, Pickles.
