I have the opportunity to set the ally door frame to the height we want.....new door in wall

How high does carpet and underlay sit??

Kinda hoping for the frame to be the same height as the carpet i.e. no lip

That would surely depend on the type and quality of the materials.

Yeah figured that....but I'm on the road tomorrow and the concreter is coming Wednesday. G James Glass indicate 15-20mm ish.

Yes a little under prepared but I figured there might be a rule of thumb........

None of the carpet websites give heights of carpet....

how long is a peice of string? underlay and carpet varry in thickness and plushness. I would say no less than 10mm for sure. I would also say make sure the Aluminium frame lip is higher than the carpet by atleast 5mm if not 10mm. You want a good edge for the carpet to finish neatly against and you dont want all the dust, dirt etc ending up in the track/grooves.

is this a external door? either way, it will most probably be made to a standard height, ie 2100, or 2400 and then if a timber jamb attached this is on top of that (approx 18mm thick) the timber usually only in the wall frame not going external. Now you may require the top of the aluminium to line up with something exsisting, or something else going in. Brickwork, soffit lining etc. Playing around with the slab and changing the height may fix one thing but create another problem…..
