I don't think its funny. At best it is daft - no one builds a vehicle (out of) or with chopsticks. It could be construed as being xenophobic, I'd say racist but I don't know your ethnic background.
You must be drunk to post that.

Okay Mr Serious, get off your high horse, firstly -

I am not racist and certainly do need to elaborate any further than that.

It is just a copy of a sticker, it is merely having a dig at some of methods used by our northern neighbours with their engineering practices, while tipping LR's

It is completely harmless banter and nothing different that any Australian work place would not experience daily.

I am not remiss of the fact that cars are not made out of or with chop sticks.

No, I was not drunk at the time.

Now for some advice....

In the future if you see a thread started by me - do not even open it, if you read a post made by me and your high moral standards are offended then just close it and move on.

You know doubt feel a need to launch a personal attack from 5000k's away, maybe that made you feel empowered, I wonder just how loose your lips would be at the local on a Friday night........

This is my copy of this sticker. The only reason it's not on my truck is because I am removing the tailgate in favor of barn doors when I get a canopy. Then it'll be a permanent fixture.
Am I conscious it may offend people? Yes.
Is that going to stop me putting it on? No. In the same way I will celebrate ANZAC day, and Australia Day every year, and continue to decorate my house with Christmas lights - even though those around me might not necessarily agree.
This country is getting far too politically correct. We're at risk of loosing our typical Aussie "larrakin" sense of humour.
Thankyou, Drover for sharing nothing more than a piece of light-hearted humour. May we never lose that.

First off Drover admits it is not politically correct.
Mools chimes in backing up this argument - and elaborates with more detail on why it is probably not PC
And then everyone goes to town on Mools.
Do you guys agree with yourselves or not? I'm confused :-)
But consider this: I am thinking of another sticker for Toyotas - "Made with the latest technology, not knives and forks". Trouble is without a racist stereotype it doesn't even make sense does it?
And before everyone goes on the attack recognise that there are a variety of views, opinions, people and races on this forum. It is not whether you mean to cause offence or not - it is if you actually cause offence to the reader.
Drover I think you knew your post would cause offence - hence your disclaimer. Why are you even surprised you got a bite?

The joke of the future
A ***** walks (sorry may offend disabled (sorry can't call them that anymore) into a **** and says (sorry may offend persons who do not have English as a first language) to the *****, Hey that a funny ( sorry may not be funny to every person in the establishment at that time due to a religious festival that may or not be being celebrated at the time) that you are wearing (sorry may offend those persons who are confirmed naturists and as such do not wear clothing which may or may not be too revealing and may or may not offend persons of another ethnic or religious background).
This is about as silly as it gets and it is only going to get worse. Soon we will all have to have a disclaimer before and after posts, e-mails, texts so as to not offend anyone. What a boring monoculture of nothing we are becoming.
What happened to the Australia we knew where you copped some and gave some back all in the name of fun.

Come on AULRO, overeacting much!?
This sticker and the reaction to it does not signal the end of Australia as you know it! Calm down.
I dont think any one in this post is truely outraged by the 'chopsticks' joke. Used around the campfire for engaging in western vs asian 4x4 car banter it would raise a chuckle - nothing wrong with it. But it is not so funny that it deserves to be constantly repeated and promoted on your car.
I think the air of disaproval in this thread is more about its format (a printed sticker) and that there are suggestions it should be stuck onto a Land Rover!
Why people feel the need to stick tasteless jokes or risky whitissisms on their cars is beyond me. I expect these kind of 'dont give a ****' stickers from the Pootrol/Nissan jacked up 4x4 hooning bunch but not you friendly Land Rover Owners!
If I see this sticker on a Defender, you will not be getting a landy wave from me - you have been warned :p

When I was a teenager I lived in an Aboriginal community and was always called "Whitey or Ghosty" by these people even though I was tanned.
It never bothered me and nor them when I answered back words that would offend the politically correct brain dead television watchers of today.
We all got on in reality, and shared our differences without politics consuming us.

If people would turn off there TV programs that are publicly programming them, and realise we are all the same and can take a joke or insult on the cheek, we may have a chance of not loosing our rights to breath in this country from distorted carbon laws.
It is all done by design and this country, my country, will go under heavy laws over the next few years and most of you are not capable to comprehend the forces to move Australia under NWO control.

It is racist. Here's a definition for you:
noun
1.the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
The sticker implies that a car put together by a different race is inferior. Therefore racist. That said it is pretty tame - I'm pretty sure people won't stop and point as your car goes by. It's still racist nonetheless and as brainless as the F off we're full sticker. I immediately realise I'm dealing with someone with a low IQ if I see stickers like that.
I instead poke fan at other Caucasians with the sticker of my disco: "Paddle faster, I hear banjo's" :). There is some crazy banjo country near where I live. :D

14th November 2013, 03:09 PM
I don't discriminate.
I hate everyone equally.
Would I put it on my car? No.
Do I really care if someone else puts it on theirs? No.
As said, it's pretty tame. Not as bad as "**** off we're full" imho.
I'm all for equal opportunity and respect for other religions and races, but respect is a two way street, and if people want to play the race card like it's going out of fashion, it's not going to earn a heap of respect from the rest of us.

Unfortunately these days ,the racist tag is used too often to stifle discussion on a whole range of issues that should be discussed.Try to find a car that is solely manufactured by one "race"100 percent.I know my land rover collection was built in britain by whites, west indians, pakis, indians and God knows who else, maybe even someone who uses chopsticks.:pSo what?Tojotas and datsuns ect are built all over the world not just by asians. It is a sticker meant to be amusing the same as a whole lot of others, some of which are quite clever .Dont ever lose your sense of humour you blokes,[oh and shielas, don't want to be called sextist],you can never replace it;)

I agree that the racist tag is often used as a blunt tool to stifle conversation. In this case though I think it is racist. I know lots of people from different countries put my car together. That's not racism though, that's just a fact. Implying that people who use chopsticks can't build a car is a bit different. As I said though its pretty tame.
For those rueing the lost Aussie way - catch up with the times. Being gay used to be illegal, women couldn't vote and most of us were white. Now that is changing and I think its great! So we just need to be a bit careful about what we say sometimes as Australia is a multicultural place now. Over 12% of Australians have an Asian ancestral origin. Something some probably didn't know.
And before you start canning me I do have a sense of humour and I do love Aussie larrakins but sometimes people don't think about the implications of what they do or say. Don't use the larrakin tag as an excuse for being nasty and saying what you want at the expense of others though.
Just my 10 cents. Can away :)

Yes, I suspect that those who are able to not get fired up and loose their sense of humour and larrikinism (It can be taken too far though, being a Larrikin is about having fun WITH people, NOT poking fun AT people with malicious intent remember...) are going to have a longer lifespan.
So be more relaxed everyone, and ENJOY life for goodness sake:)

the only thing you proved is you can't follow a few simple guidelines that are in place to ensure you have continued access to the site.
there have been too many instances where people avoid the filter so they can convey a specific meaning or word which breaches the G rating the site runs under, so for the common good, we have this particular rule.
no power trip involved by the moderator concerned.
feel free apologize to the man doing what is asked of him by the owner of the site.

OK Thank you for the pointless and rude response.

Actually I think if you look back over the thread objectively you have been quite rude yourself.

I guess I was wrong in believing that this site was a fair dinkum site for Australian Land Rover Owners. That first word sucked me in. I am an Aussie through and through and embrace the Aussie spirit. That quality seems to be lacking here.

It's a stretch to invoke the "Aussie Spirit" in defence of your actions - it was explained why we have the rule, and 99.99% of people here manage to follow that rule. No reason you can't.

I have no need in my life to tolerate this sort of abuse. In real life face to face away from the gutlessness of the forum shields it wouldn't be the keyboard keys getting banged. So on that note stick this forum up your arse and get ****ed.

OK Thank you for the pointless and rude response. It is obvious that logic and common sense has seemed to escape you and a couple of nancy boy mods. I guess I was wrong in believing that this site was a fair dinkum site for Australian Land Rover Owners. That first word sucked me in. I am an Aussie through and through and embrace the Aussie spirit. That quality seems to be lacking here. Of course this site along with most others are for general viewing and as such obscene language should be refrained from being used. I did exactly that. It was Dullbird who decided to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I was only defending myself like any true Aussie would.
Using caps so as to shout is considered a no no on almost all forums anywhere, yet again this seems to be OK for some. Very big caps and in red. That is extremely rude and if you were fair dinkum you would have and should have moderated that. That very thing is inciting and in very poor form. Most of the forum members here are or seem to be good intelligent people, however when a mod hat sits on the head, the persona changes.
I have no need in my life to tolerate this sort of abuse. In real life face to face away from the gutlessness of the forum shields it wouldn't be the keyboard keys getting banged. So on that note stick this forum up your arse and get ****ed.
Hmmm
Well, for starters, Dullbird is a bird, a sheila, a girl, a woman, a female, and a damn nice person to boot.
Pedro isn't THAT swift, despite his name, and Inc, well, he OWNS the place.
Think of this site as a pub. You abide by the publicans rules, or you don't get to drink in his establishment. If the pub rules state that the 8 ball must be pocketed first, then thats what you do, or you don't play the tables.
The site rules are not only clear, they are generous as well. This site is one of the best that I have visited, and it only stays that way by the hard work of Inc and his band of Mods.
As Dullbird pointed out, you were not singled out. So, if you want to stay & join in the fun, and tap into the unprecedented wealth of knowledge that is assembled here, then by all means do so.
BUT, remember, at all times, "Play the ball, not the man"
