View Full Version : Dear Mr Defender designer

I've been asked to pass on these suggestions by a very good friend who runs a Defender 130 CC as her daily driver. (and isn't a member here. She also has Ford Ranger in the shed but refuses to use it!)
In her opinion these couple of items would make the Defender a total winner and cooler than the cool car it is now.
1. A bag holder.
Apparently there is no where for a lady to stow or hang her hand bag securely (I think in this case it was a Louis Vuitton ??)
2. An illuminated makeup mirror.
It's disconcerting having someone continually grab the rear vision mirror when I'm driving her car to apply some mascara or lippy and then hear her whinge she can't see where she's applying it!
Which brings me to the last request...
3. Softer suspension so that the makeup doesn't get smeared all over ones face while trying to apply it!
The payload is great for fencing stuff, etc, but /
I'm told a little too harsh for makeup application!
Seriously, these things are apparently important to the ladies !
I was regaled about these points while driving her 130 into town yesterday morning for brekky at the local cafe as mine was deemed too dirty to sit in for a clean, white dress! :o
Is this too much for the beardy weirdies?

I thought the cubby box in the defender was a good place for a lady's handbag. I don't know about the 130 but the 110 suspensions gives a nice ride, don't know if it is good enough for make up application. But totally agree about the mirror.

Sounds a bit like my Missus. I love her dearly but at times she is a Princess.:wasntme:

I thought that might be the problem. Although my cubby box is usually full with all my stuff.

I'm not sure I'd like my storage space being taken up with hand bags,,,
I'm not sure how other women work, but mine goes to get in the car, and the first thing she does is throw her hand bag on the floor where she needs to put her feet
Mind you, being 4' nothing makes the job hard to start with ;)
As for the mirror thing,, thanks God Leeanne's not that into make-up :D
Softer suspension,, hummm,,, make -up,,,, who cares, do it before you get into the car

Just how big IS this handbag???
Oh, and BTW, your wife has now become my #2 daughters idol. If you could please ask her to have a word to my wife, and confirm that girls really DO drive such big, ugly cars, then she would be eternally grateful... ;)

Except it was her Defender we were in when the comments were made, not mine;)
I'll have to take a pic of them together today, she had a Deefer before we started going out!
When we go some where it's a case of which ****box (her term, not mine!) we'll take !
There's also the odd comment that climbing in with a tight fitting Issey Miyake number is a struggle too.
Princess? naa Warrior Queen!
We were mustering cattle a few weeks back.

It's a 130, get a secure storage box in the tray, then she could have an entire collection of Louis Vitton luggage! :D
I'll be going with air suspension, then I can lower it to access height for low headroom carparks and getting in and out easily. :p
An illuminated mirror, surely that's something youse bloks would love, gives you a chance to go out and drill some more holes and add extra wiring. Perhaps Traxide could do a make-up mirror kit.

An illuminated mirror? Really? It's a Land Rover!
Is that so when you are in the middle of the forrest you can check your eye liner before fetching the deer you just shot? Or if you're mending a fence on a thousand hectare property you can make sure you're wearing enough concealer? :p

If you saw some of the clothes and shoes, we're talking girly girls too :D
Absolutely loves the Deefer, wishes she had it back in another lifetime when she was an eastern suburbs big lunching party girl socialite!
The Ranger in the shed never gets a run.

Enough Paul!
Guess who volunteered to organise filters et al for the next service..... :o
At least I'm getting a mate to do the actual servicing :D
One is enough!
It's not very discrete when we have a rendezvous at a local café either, seeing as we have the only roadworthy 130CC's in the district

Easy as,what about a couple of hooks welded on the bar,so it will hang like a water bag?
And a well sized garbage bag to wrap it in if it rains.

:D We can do stuff like that,, why - cause we can,, and your right, then it becomes some cool type of Expedition vehicle  ,, we don't need the mirrors anyway,, as we don't shave either ;)
Try that with your Disco's
Hey Rick, has she thought about just hanging it over the seats headrest? ;)

You're only allowed to shave in a Defender if you use a large hunting knife!

Pfft.
I can fit all of mine and SWMBOs stuff in my Disco just fine, more so when I get my roof rack sorted :p
No need for tacky "expedition style" hanging of stuff on mirrors :p

What's most disturbing is that a defender driver can identify between a handbag and a tote. Which begs the question, is it really for her?

I'm sorry I missed that, but if she has to wait for you to climb i because of your poor dress selection then she can complain all she likes. One should not have to wait for one's chauffeur.

Particularly if One is being so tolerant and understanding with regards to said chauffeurs slightly idiosyncratic choice of clothing.
