My 2001 disco TD5 appears to make oil, just short of a litre every 5000 k's. The dealer has put it down to being overfilled at service, however I have checked this last time very closely and it is making oil... :?
I have heard a rumour that Landrover have Identified some TD5's have porous fuel rails that weep fuel into the sump but have chosen to not recall them,, rather replace the heads for owners who make a lot of noise. And hope that people dont notice this problem until there out of warranty and start doing there own oil changes.( This rumour is said to come out of the PT Augusta dealer )...It sits well with my cars symptoms anyway.

Anyone shed light on this...support or ridicule

maybe its just that landrovers have finally stopped oil pouring out of one of there models,,,,,, style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif and cant break the habit of overfilling to compensate 8O style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

No ridicule here,,,
can you have the oil tested??

I would think ( jump in here people) that a sample of contaminated oil should "seperate" if left alone.

Have you searched the Pommy LRO site?

Cheers pedro, I am in the process of having a SOAP sample done on the oil.
From what I understand the diesel and the oil are of the same base product and wont seperate once mixed, ( again anyone jump in if you know for sure)

I would reckon you should get the oil tested by a lab. They will be able to identify dilution with diesel and it will give more weight if you decide to take LR on.
No idea how much it cost (not a heap though) and could be money well spent.
