So, I'm about to do a colour change on my L322 and the colour I want - a deep red, was never available on these over here, but the colour I want is/was available on the RRS - there is one cruising around Sunbury, but I haven't seen him for a week or two, so I'm hoping someone here can identify the colour and paint code from the below picture. Also, would anyone know what the base colour would be that the red would have been sprayed over?

I've run some searches on Google but not found what I want.

Thanks Garry, just googled that and it looks like the right one. So, one down, 2 to go. Looks like the paint code is 889 - is that right? And base colour to go.:)

Hi Babicat,
There is also an Alveston red which is very similar to the Rimini red, I had a RRS in Rimini and it was magic, looked great. Friend had the Alveston red, was slightly deeper red.

Hmm, just googled some pics of Alveston red - I like that a lot as well. I'll get that added to the spray outs I'm getting done and make a decision from there.:)

Rimini Red. I had a 2008 TDV8 in that color which was sold in a moment of stupidity. A great color (but I like red:D so am biased). Red with Ivory interior was a great combination. I think better than the later red which is as has been commented, slightly darker.

Well, I'm getting my mate to do a spray out of both colours on a decent sized sheet of steel. As we can't work out what the base colour is supposed to be, he will be laying the red over a silver metallic base.

It's on his 'when I get a chance' list of things to do, so I won't know for a while I don't think. Hoping to do the colour change on the Rangie over the new year.

I've got to order some new badges for it, and I think I'll get a new grill while I'm at it. Powerful UK have a decent looking one that makes it look a bit newer - and it is in the dark silver colour, not ghastly chrome like most of their stuff.:D

Also, what are people's thoughts on colour coding the door handles and mirrors?

Hi Babicat,
I did the door handles didn't do the mirrors, door handles finished the doors off quite nicely, looked pretty neat.

If you're going for a full colour change then I'd be going the extra mile and updating the grille / lights to the 2010 spec. I'm fairly certain fleabay UK could provide the necessary bits from the various breakers. Considering the work involved in the colour change this is small beer ;)

Rimini's a great colour, just make sure you do all the door shuts as well :)

I hear you, but a facelift kit is £900 plus freight- huge - been quoted £500 for that on its own, plus duties and GST as it is over $1000.

Colour change is quite cheap as I have full unlimited use of a panel and paint shop, so I'm only paying for materials - using the best quality paint, that's under $1000 in total, so quite cheap really.

I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket grill, but the facelift is out of my price range unfortunately.

Oh, and it will be a full and proper colour change. I've done plenty before. This is the first of 3 cars I'll be painting in the next 12 months - and it will be the easiest as well. :)
