Does anyone know what colour the 2.25ltr 4 cyl series ii
landy engines was originally painted?

Somewhere back in the deeper recesses of my brain a pale greeny colour seems to ring a bell.

The pale green seems to ring a bell for me as well, I remember someone saying the paint code once in a magazine. I'll have a rumage & see what I can dig up.

if it cost $00.000001 per litre more than a plain colour landrover wouldnt have used it.

and i have never seen purple with orange polka-dots and pink pinstriping
paint cheaper than a plain colour, but i havent been shopping where you shop.

and the winner is :-

SI = red
SII = grey (ford gray is very close)
SIIA & SIII = Light green (duck egg green)
SIIA & SIII 6cyl = grey (ford gray is very close)
2.5L = red

AU army reconditioned motors appear to have been painted "cream"

And on the inside of the engines :-

The cream/tan interior coating is called Glyptal.

It seals the tiny pores left in cast metal leaving the engine block
interiors smooth. This allows oil to flow more freely. It helps keep
the oil and engine interior clean by adding protection from blow by
product buildup on the engine interior walls.

nearly enough of a mix to keep VladTepes happy....
