Putting car in garage long term

Hi guys,

About to go away for three months and park the disco in the garage for that time. Is there anything I need to worry about like the battery going flat etc?

I am going to get fuel saver to put in before I go

Any thing else I should do?

If it was me, I would just disconnect the battery and give it a full charge before I leave.

Depends where you live!

Where we are, I'd be putting a few blocks of Rat Sak around the car, as we are out in the countryside and mice think a garage is a nicer place to hang out than a paddock....

3 months is not that long. If you were keen, you could put it up on jack stands though.

Also another basic one is to disconnect you battery
Will stop it going flat obviously and also stop any other unwanted issues you might worry about with the electronics.
Also make sure you have filled her up this stops any possible change of condensation forming in the tank. It's rare but does happen.

Will disconnecting the battery have any effect on the alarm or stereo?

It's an aftermarket stereo and I don't have any codes for it

Put a trickle charger (charge-n-maintain etc) on it, there's tons of these things available everywhere.

I have gone away for 3 months several times and I leave my Honda Jazz.

I change oil and filter immediately before going, so that there are no corrosive byproducts.

Attach a "Charge and Maintain" to the battery . The one I have is 1.5 amps which far exceeds the drain so I leave the battery connected.

Leave the petrol tank as full as possible with Straight 91 octane with no ethanol, and add "Stabil" fuel stabilizer.

So far the car starts first turn with no problems at all. This assumes you have good tyres which hold air and in date coolant.

maybe put a few extra psi in the tyres to avoid flat spots?
