Hi,

Can you post the number on the plate on the firewall - bit difficult to read.
Could be R86....; R866....; R0610.... - that way we can give you more info. The headlights through the grille was introduced after the side lights on the firewall were deleted.

From the LRSOC Chassis number identifier it looks like:

1950 Model Year (built between August 1949 and July 1950) Land Rover 80" 1595cc Mobile Welder. That's assuming I read the Car No. correctly off the data plate photo.

Cheers Nigel

Must have replied at the same time. I had read it as 0642330. If it is 06112330 then the model year is the same but a basic model.

Cheers! I spotted it on a property near where I'm working. It's a shame to see it go to waste, might see if the owner will part with it :-)

Hi,

It's a 1950 model (1950 Model numbering introduced August 1949). Vehicle numbers near this were being sold in Sydney by Grenville Motors, the NSW Distributor in September/October 1950.

You can find the chassis number - should be the same - on top of the passenger side engine mount flat section.

Here's the Grenville Motors record:
